 Post subject: An idea... (Red Oddy in 1.5)

NO, I'm not talking about patching RO to 1.5, I am aware at the moment it is not possible.

But, with all of these IA missions being released, I thought why don't we just re-create RO missions as IA missions? It would be time consuming, Having to find all of the models needed, re-creating mission script, and maybe even throw in a few radio dialogs :lol: It would be cool for Win7 and Vista users to play RO again..



Can anyone look into it and see if it's even physically possible?

First, the IA mission support would have to be expanded to include the ability to execute mission scripts in DLLs or something. (Ken mentioned this briefly somewhere in the patch section)

Then, the cloak feature from RO would have to be coded from scratch, seeing as we don't have the RO code as a reference. After that, somebody who knows how to program would have to write their own mission scripts and try to mimic the missions in RO. Models and dialogs are all in RO's files, that would be simple to add to BZ for a mission.

It would be nice to play RO missions with the new code fixes and DirectX 9. :D Far-fetched, but not impossible I guess. Maybe in 1.6... don't get your hopes up. :P

I guess I should wait it out until the final 1.5 install is released with everything that was in the old 1998 install.

For the 1.5 installer, all the maps have to be voted on again.
