Are there any dangers in telling my firewall, (third party) to allow BZ to access the internet and in doing so will the internet have access to BZ, and if so will hackers be able to use BZ to destroy my comp? :?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, and links on the subject would also be helpful.

Yes, there are many dangers in allowing BZ to access the the Internet:

1. You might lose lives.
2. You might get ejected and sniped in games.
3. You might step on a mine and die.
4. You might lose your recycler.
5. You might get shot and killed.

I don't think hackers will destroy your computer though. Wouldn't that involve explosives? In movies, when the giant enemy robot is destroyed, it explodes/self-destructs. Why does it explode? It must have been loaded with dynamite. Yeah! In that case it was the designers intention that the robot would at some point explode. Has this happened before? Can you point me to a news article about hackers destroying computers? :D

 I kind of knew that that could happen... and in terms of the comp being destroyed I was refering to a hard drive being wiped or sensitive info being stolen of the computer. I don't know if it is possible but my dad has about six hundred dollars of equipment tied up in our LAN and he doesn't want anything happening to it, understandably.

Neither he nor I know anything about this so he told me that I would have to do some research on the subject before he could allow me to change the firewall. After half an hour of web surfing without results I decided to put my question on here and talk to my older sister who has many computer geeks in IM that she can ask for help. So hopefully I can be playing multi late this afternoon. I have been playing against my younger sister (11) and she isn't exactly much of a challenge. Which is understandable considering that I am three years older and I have been playing BZ a lot longer... not to mention a year plus with Microsoft Combat Flight simulator I which is were I got me fighting abilities. So I am looking forward to testing my skill against people as strong or stronger than I.

I do not know of any news articles but my dad won't take unnecessary risks, and he views any risks incorporated with playing a comp game unnecessary.

I stumbled upon this going through this section. And this topic greatly amuses me.
Well if hackers want to get into your system, there going to get into our system, but seeing as you
1.Dont have government secrets on your comp
2.arnt someone hackers would want to hack (Big corporation for instance?)
You should be completely safe allowing bz to access the internet.

Your dad is paranoid. There is nothing on your comp for the hackers to sell/distrubeute on the internet , you 99.99999% chance of not getting hacked.
Heck by allowing bz to get on the internet you dont even change your chances of being hacked!
