For me and my friend (we both have DX10 cards), the game runs flawlessly. The only issue we have is that every 5 minutes, the screen turns yellow and the game's FPS drops to 1. It takes 15 seconds but we have to hit Escape and then return to the game. Is there anyone who's had this problem and figured out its solution?

it's a common nvidia problem, memory leak.
"paco", guy from the lobby, has the same problem with his 2 8800 ultras. for him, just escape doesn't work, he has to alt-tab when yellow screen appears. he didn't have that problem before, with the older drivers, but he had other problems, like black radar.
without radar you can play, but with yellow screen ever 5 mins...
so, if you don't really need the newest nvidia drivers (in most cases you don't), you should try older drivers (1 year or more). if you do that and fix the problem, don't forget to check every month if nvidia fixed the problem with the newest drivers, and of course, let us know which (version, month) older driver works with bz.

Two problems with that:
1) We need our latest drivers. We play more than just Battlezone (as you'd imagine with systems like ours).
2) The 9800GTX doesn't have year old drivers. The 9-series hasn't been around for that long. Only for months.
It sucks that there's a memory leak. It's a great game, I just wish a company remade the game or fixed it up.

latest driver is not always the best. new driver comes every month and if there wasn't something wrong with your current driver, you won't even notice the change.
yeah, 9800gtx probably has only drivers from last 3-4 months, but your friend with 8800gt might find something useful from the last year.
btw, i spoke to "paco" (guy with 2 8800 ultras) about your mutual problem. he said that driver from last month wasn't giving him "yellow screen". he will wait for the next month driver, then roll back to previous month if they don't fix the error.
that means bz driver doesn't have to be (more than) year old, it seems that it depends from card to card, so you should give those previous drivers a chance...

I know the latest driver isn't always the best, but there's a rather large FPS increase from the latest driver and the game Age of Conan. I also have a feeling that rolling back won't help the error. My friend is far from using up to date drivers, and he's encountering the same deal.

Maybe it won't, but to rely on a feeling...
AoC (with high FPS) or Bz & AoC (with not so high FPS) shouldn't be a tough choice, but maybe it's just me...

well, i ran bz on vista with my 8800 ultra and the latest drivers, there were no problems.
now, i'm having a dual boot system, and the latest drivers for xp. i reinstalled all of my games to run on xp.
imagine my disappointment when i first saw a yellow screen in bz. gonna wait for the next driver update, if that doesn't fix it, i'm changing to vista again.

Try changing resolution to 640x480. I've a 9600GT and it worked for me. No yellow screens at all, everything works perfectly.

it looks like updating drivers is the solution. i've got a geforce 9600gt and couldnt play bz at all at first (black radar dots, black target screen, frame rate drops to 0.4fps, yelow crash screen). with latest driver the radar and target screen are normal, yellow screens are gone sofar and frame rate only decreases slowly but is easy to fix during game by pressing escape and return to game.

I have experienced the same problem. I running an 8800gt on an amd 9450 with XP and the latest drivers. I have tried various things with my card config and render. I ended up simply running with the shadows off and sky flat in the bz options. I am running @ 1280 * 1024 with no more issues.Card and render all back to standard settings except I am pre-loading 8 frames instead of 3 on my CPU in my nvidia controls. I haven't tried going back to the standard 3. The key thing to watch is your fps. If they are steady you are good. If they are wondering 20 fps or so you have problems. I am now rock steady between 59.9 and 60.1 FPS. No more yellow freeze hope this helps! NoLStyx

Ah ha, so I'm not the only one Looks like most post here are already from quite some time ago, are people still having this problem? I started playing Battlezone again with 1.4M (didn't had the problem with that version strangely), Mr. Spock recommended me the new version he made (Battlezone 1998), IT'S AWESOME! . What did you feed that version? Anyway, then I started getting it to occasionally. Really wierd that the cause and sollution seems different for everyone. I seem to have fixed it by updating to nVidia geForce 185.68 beta drivers (released previous Wednesday). Now it rarely hits me again and when it does I change resolution back and forth and that usually does the trick. Anyway, the game is very much playable and that's all I need and I greatly appreciate and admire the care you put into Battlezone, the classic we all love Also, as this is my first post here; hi to everyone. It's good to back at Battlezone. I've been reading around here for a while to catch up (will probably take a while before I really have). And hopefully I'll be able to join you guys for a good cup of ol' Battlezone multiplayer now and then in the near future. As is recommended to me I'm first going to play through Bz and RO on hard to get familiar with the ways of Bz again
