It is not that I don't appreciate other people's point of view. Every locked topic is locked for a good reason.
Old warstories are locked cause they were brought from another forum by Jon Blund and me. New warstories are unlocked.
Strat guides being locked doesn't mean you can't discuss them. You can, but you have to open another topic. I am also not able to comment other people's guides where they are originally posted. You can post your guide too and I will lock it. Then we will open new topic, "Strat Guides Discussion" and discuss all kinds of different tactics, and maybe even update our guides after that. Like that, forum is easier to read (many give up on reading when they see number of posts).
Ally topic was locked because that subject wasn't initially meant to be discussed, I just wanted for new players to become aware of the problem and learn how to deal with it (of course, there are several ways of doing that).
Check what kind of explanations they get on other forums, when DM-ers are trying to help:

How to play in team ?

Hello !
I have seen in the game that if we push "Y" we "could" be allied with somone.
I have tryed with someone by making that :
Pushing Y and after writing his name.
Pushing Y and after writing his player-number.
But my turret attack him all the times.
Do you know if it's really possible to be allied.
Thank
ColdFusion
Ally doesn't work correctly.
If I remember correctly. In a DM game you are team 1 and everyone else is team 2.
If you push the Y key and type 2 then enter, you will be allied with everyone else in the game.
Then if you push the U key and type 2 then enter, you will unally with them.
It may work differently in Strat games.
I think that DX has been working on fixing the Ally feature, but I'm not sure how much progress has been made in that area. The programmer may have to change the code to make it work correctly.
Dx
Ally doesn't work right in the game, it seems to be a unfinished feature. They originally coded the game to use the team button and for the most part it worked, but they disabled the button. I asked why it was disabled and got no reply.
I haven't had time to try changing the ally code and testing it, that will have to be checked out when we're doing game play bug fixing.
yohannc
ok thank.
Activision should employ you Dx to finish BZ1 .

Y+ player number. Both players must do this, otherwise it will be a one way street and they still fire. As far as I'm concerned when both players do it nobody fires a shot.

Wow, if what's you say is real, i could be funnnnnnn.
I will test it after.
That work, i saw my brother in blue. I hope that not all we be in blue.
And i had another very small problem. I unally with him, i saw him in red after and my turret don't attak him. But this is not important.
bb1
This is important! It is actually the fatal flaw of ally. It is an instant safe passport through enemy guntowers and turrets and other ships. It is the major bug that makes the ally button so controversial. You can ally with anyone and they are shut down. This is something I hope to see fixed by 1.1, or the ally feature removed completely.
Dx
Well i have alot to do and i'm not sure if i'll get to the ally stuff but i was thinking of disabling it until we get it fixed.
yohannc
Last week end we were 3 and played 2 vs 1.
I was allied with my cousin. I saw him in blue, when i created a power plant i was able to create a guntower next to it. I could take life on my hangar...
So it's run well.
But we have a problem. My cousin created a silo next to scraps, when my scavengers took scraps, they went to his silo. So only my cousin took scraps.
Dx
Yes that's a well know bug in the ally code. The team button actually worked well for the silo scrap.
I disabled the ally code for version BzE1.1
yohannc
Ally even with this bug is very cool .
Dx
Not when only 1 side can ally and then the enemy wont fire at you, that's a cheat.
Furion, I also unlocked ally topic in case you want to copy-paste ally part of your post there, so all discussion could stay on 1 place.
Anyhow, thanks for your input.
