I find that playing on anything wider than 640x480 hinders the game; each part of the HUD gets further apart and smaller. Having a very wide screen such as the one you've got on your TV would mean that when going to look at the radar, you're completely moving your sight away from what's in front of you. With a small resolution like BZ's native 640x480, you can look at the radar while being able to navigate and such. The same goes for the health and ammo bars too.

Anyhow, it does look pretty cool like that, just don't go playing a strat unless you want to lose

I think it'd be cool if Ken could add an integer scaling option for the 2D parts of the game such as the HUD. By the time you reach 1280x1024, it's time to scale the HUD and the multiplayer chat text up by a factor of 2 to make it as readable as it is in 640x480. The laptop I am using right now lets me play BZ in 800x480, so it's like a perfect widescreen version of 640x480, the HUD still apppears to be the same size. :)

Very nice! I envision nailing that to the wall, relaxing in a recliner with a keyboard and mouse resting on a small board on your lap. ;)

Battlezone on a widescreen TV is indeed very cool, I tried it myself once but it wasn't as comfortable because I don't have a wireless keyboard/mouse. As Sporkinator said, it would be logical to make the HUD resize to a larger size so it's still readable on higher resolutions.

While we're on this, might as well make the recliner one of those massage kinds...

Or better yet, a programmed chair which bumps you when you take damage in BZ! :D

I second this, though a lot of older games like BZ suffer from this exact same issue due to how technology has changed... back then people had a hard time imagining playing on a system that could handle 1280x720 resolution :)

BZ sure looks awesome on that TV!

Yeah, my new computer runs BZ 1.5 at 1600x900 at over 200 FPS with vsync off, but my old one would struggle to even get 60 at 1024x768.
