First of all, 1.5b installer doesn't install DX. It installs updates for DX9.0c and previous versions od DX. 1.4 uses DX3 while 1.5 uses DX9, so those are needed.
Second of all, 1.5 is made with Visual C++ 2008, so runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries are needed too.
Third of all, if you have the latest DX updates and Visual C++ Libraries, installer won't overwrite them. DX will report that you don't need the updating, while Visual C++ will offer repairing or canceling.

Does it install and give you the error where you are told you need 50mb of memory, or does the installer just not work?

slight wrote: Assuming there will be a map pack included with the 1.5 installer, (as being discussed in here: bz-1-5-installer-discussion-t1221.html ) why not add an extra ZFS of the files for those maps, along with the unpacked stock files. I'm assuming there's going to be quite a lot in there, probably more files than all the stock ZFS files combined. This would leave addon a bit cleaner for new user content. I recall my addon folder got so unwieldy with thousands of files that I had to create several installs of BZ just to manage them. Yes, since we finally got ZFS packer, I'll make new ZFS for optional custom maps, that are voted in this topic and here: favorite-custom-strat-map-t1631.htmlfavorite-custom-dm-map-t1634.htmlfavorite-ia-map-t1635.html

Seeing how I have to beg you people to tell me which maps you like (less than 10 out of 1000 members voted), I'll make the choice for you... When installer is released, you can tell me whether you like it or not.

By all means I request the deployment of heavy tanks and un- thumpable golems . this will bring more variety of vehicles for battlezone . if u want the game to survive for the next generation . then we must add the heavy tanks and un-thumable golems

1)Would change 1.5 patch to a mod... 2)Un-Thumpable golem should save 'next bz generation'? Is ok as is now, doesnt need else... 3)About heavy tanks,bz hasnt any,and even if someone make one, would be (again) a mod...

ScrapPool wrote: I'm also OK with the removal of any Elysium map. You voted for Bio Metal Run and HiLo which are on Elysium. To clarify, you want original Bio Metal Run or Bio Metal Run v1.5 as seen in the 1.4 installer? ScrapPool wrote: Additionally, the 1.5 installer does not bring the TRO palates and textures (Ganymede and Elysium)! Add those please! Those would obviously be added to support custom maps just like in the current 1.4 installer. Lifeline, HiLo, and Bio Metal Run maps require them. I am curious, have you actually played all the maps you voted to add? I really dislike Walker Arena due to its design and vehicle selection being horrible. If I'm correct, there's only 3 walker vehicles present on the map at any given time, and you can only choose a pilot. How does that work out for 4 or more players? Make sure you only vote for/against maps you have actually played, otherwise the vote is meaningless. ScrapPool wrote: Incorrect custom palate Palate Quote: pal·ate (Noun) 1. The roof of the mouth, separating the cavities of the nose and the mouth in vertebrates. 2. A person's appreciation of taste and flavor. Palette Quote: pal·ette (Noun) 1. A thin board or slab on which an artist lays and mixes colors. 2. The range of colors used by a particular artist or in a particular picture. I believe the correct word in this case is "Palette". Just thought I would let you know.
