I think this has been posted before, but I couldn't find it again.

When I run BZ (1998 install) or TRO the game runs fine in HW mode, but all of my units on the radar do not have a letter on them representing what group they are in. They are green boxes, as if all of them were buildings.

I'm using windows 7.

Tried installing new drivers today, only made it worse. Now the game crashes in full screen and the fog in the first CCA mission is just a solid sheet of green.

I don't understand why you're installing new drivers when you want to play a 13 years old game. install old drivers instead or be smart and download 1.5.

I don't understand why you are acting like an immature know-it-all troll in my threads and not helping at all.

I want to play RO, otherwise obviously there would be no point to running 1.4 on windows 7.

do you have Nvidia?

full screen ONLY 1024*768 (no green fog, only in /win)
not sure but if i remember correctly there isn't a way to see the numbers on win7 (might be the same with Nvidia on xp)

You can't read, can you?

And no, before his last post SnakeEye was not trying to help. I don't make topics asking questions just to get people telling me to "OMG DOWNLOAD 1.5 U MORON WHY U TRY TO RUN 1.4 ON NEW MACHINE WHY YOU SO STUPID"

And snakeeye, when I run BZ with those settings I get a black screen. When I lower the resolution to 640, Bzone gets an unhandled exception and crashes. :/

Have you tried changing the executable properties to run in Emulated windows XP mode with Admin rights? also if your having issues i would not try to run this in windowed mode, debug fullscreen first.

Edit: a further though, try booting into safemode and running the game; if this helps then windows 7 graphics handling is messing with your mojo.

Safemode? O_O Isn't that the same thing as running it in software mode?

As for the compatability option, I've already tried XP SP2 and XP SP3 to no avail.

Boot windows in Safe Mode (course windows 7 is a freak and this may be far more complicated then I am anticipating, I'm a oldschool developer, wont touch windows 7)

If it is to work, when you restart your computer, Hit F5 and F8 repeatedly, it should show a boot option screen, choose Safe Mode.
Don't freak out, its supposed to look like crap.

Safe Mode doesn't allow testing of hardware mode, because the graphics card drivers won't be loaded. So what is the point? :P

The issue is in the drivers of the graphics card that you forgot to mention. Screenshot of the problem is also missing. Someone with so many posts as you should know how to write a proper report. In fact, by now, you should be the one helping others in soloving it.

Anyhow, like said many times before, you have dx10+ Nvidia card, whose drivers dropped support for earlier dx, needed for BZ/RO. The solution is to wait for the next driver, hoping for the best, or to experiment with the older ones, but I doubt that any will work properly...

Sorry about that, I will ensure to include it for any future problems I run into..

Ah crap. Guess we will have to wait for Ken to possibly add DLL scripting into missions, so we can attempt to remake RO ones in 1.5..
