Alright so I reinstalled BZ1 and I have the intro playing and music in the menu and the little "commentary" in the loading screen before every mission but isnt there supposed to be music in the missions too? Or not? It's been so long I can't remember... I'm on the Europa missions now and there isnt any during the missions (just finished that "stealth" mission where you steal a russian vehicle and intercept enemy transmissions)... I took a break for a few months from the game and I can't remember whether I had music during the early missions or not.

thanks

EDIT:

Ok it seems it has something to do with patching the game... I dunno. Because I did a fresh install w/out the patch (I'm talking about the unofficial install stuff that gives you all the different options and all not the official patch 1.4 patch) and the music ran fine in missions but it wouldn't let me change the resolution from 640x480. What do I need to do?

OK, so your only remaining problem is that you can't change resolutions?

Start --> Programs --> Battlezone 1998 --> Troubleshooting --> Configuration Utility

Make sure the "Enable High Resolutions" box is checked.

Ya but sorry I wasn't clear I'm not using the installer from this site but regular old Battlezone. Turns out I just had to mess around in the render.cfg file to take out the ";" before the " Enable 800x600 and higher" option. So I did that but now the text is all wonky looking and almost illegable. And for some reason when I take out the ";" before the enable enhanced large textures part it makes every SUPER laggy in-game (and my computer is light years ahead of BZ1) and makes all the ships black... real weird.

So I guess the real issue is... how do I install Battlezone 1998 (the one from the site) yet force it to use the CD to get the music? Music is so crucial to the BZ experience for me. I tried just copying an install using the BZ installer from this site into an install off the ISO but then I just got no music again :(.

thanks!

Illegible text: Enable the halftexel setting.

Black ships and bad lag with Large Assets enabled: You are missing the large assets patch.

CD Music: I don't understand your problem. I use the Battlezone 1998 installer (I think now on the site it just says "Battlezone 1.4 Installer") and I have no problem making the music play from my CD. However, after installing BZ from the installer, if you still have no music...

1. Check BZ Audio options and make sure that the music volume is not turned down. When it's turned all the way down, the music plays in the menu, but not in the missions.

2. Check the CD volume in windows volume control and make sure it's not muted or turned all the way down. This sets the actual volume for the music in the game.

Location: Blowing CCA to shreds... anywhere anytime
I just downloaded the BZ soundtrack from bz1.net and start playing it in Windows Media Player when I start Battlezone. It doesn't sync directly with the game but it works just fine! :) It Definitely adds a lot!
