Is it possible to change the class label properties, such as changing a "sav" to hop-in-able? Also, is it possible to change the sprite tables, or create a new one? Every time I try to change a sprite table, like overwriting Splinter with Jet Pack ( ), and inserting Jet Pack into the .map file, (names_03 I think) it displays the names of that name group as rectangles in the base colors, e.g. offensive in green.... Help anyone???

I don't see how you are able to add new strings to the sprite tables or names*.map files. The names*.map files aren't readable, and the sprite tables probably shouldn't be edited unless you have a backup of the stock files.

Nah just kidding, some people really don't know that they should have backups, which is totally goofy, I know. However, I can successfully insert "Jet Pack" where "Splinter" was, and it will display the splinter "picture" when I name, say a flying pilot, "Jet Pack". BUT, when I go to edit the names_03, and insert jet pack over splinter, it displays rectangles in the base colors, e.g. offensive as a green rectangle, like I said in my first post. BTW, the "names_**.map" are quite readable... http://www.mediafire.com/?tx1yzhjdjszyou will have to zoom in on it, but it is still readable.

Hmm, what are you opening them in? I don't see anything when I open them in MAPViewer, just black on top and white on bottom... maybe objects.act is the wrong palette.

Anyway, it works just fine, by this process: open MAPViewer; open mars.act; navigate to bzsw.zfs extract folder, open names_03.map; look at pic, save as bmp if needed; well there you have it. BTW, mars.act is the one I use most of the time.

Strange, it doesn't work for me. 1. Opened MAPViewer.exe. 2. Opened ACT Palette mars.act. 3. Opened names_03.map. I always thought they were unreadable because of this. After seeing nothing in MAPViewer, I tried notepad and hex editor and gave up since they displayed nothing useful either. It seems I can't read the text strings in them like you can. When I save as BMP, I still don't get the image with the text strings.
