Hey all,
I'm doing single player mission 7 "A Nasty Suprise".
I can weather the frequent attacks but I'm spinnin' my wheels. I can maintain but can't seem to get the force needed to make the attack.
I'm thinking Howies or a crapload of tanks for the final assault.
I'm moving to the SW with L-Power and Towers, planting silos is difficult since the scrap is a real fluid situation.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've watched several of the videos on YouTube about this mission but the resolution is so crappy, I can't tell where he's going or what he's doing. Can't really read the menus as they build.
Thanks in advance,
MK

I always just plop down right where you are dropped off, and immediately build a gun tower or two. Those can hold off the fighters early while you build up. When you build up those base defenses, protect your scavengers as they gather scrap and sit tight until the walkers attack. Afterwards, it's fairly easy to attack the enemy base with APC's and tanks, bombers and tanks, or whatever other combinations of types of units you desire (just take out the power and turrets).

I play like this...
Deploy recycler, build 2 scavengers, constructor, silo, power, gun tower. Pack up recycler and move in the direction of the enemy base and deploy recycler on the next geyser, build 2 more scavengers, and another silo. Then, I build a couple of scouts. As scrap permits, I build a factory and 2 tanks. I get SP-Stabber upgrades for myself and build 2 light tanks. I pack up all 3 production units and move closer to the enemy base. I group my 6 attack units under F1 and check the attack menu often while heading towards the enemy base. When I find enemies, I have my units take care of them. 3 to 6 units usually overpower a single Golem quickly enough. If I notice a lot of scrap in range, I make a silo there for my scavengers to gather later. Once I reach the enemy base, I deploy recycler, factory, and armory on the closest geysers I can find, and I build a couple of bombers and repair/rebuild my other units. I then send the bombers on the towers and have the other units follow the bombers. I usually stay in the back, occasionally ordering my tanks and scouts to attack the power sources to disable the towers.

It works well, just make sure that the power generators are your first targets.

I usually just build a big base on mission 7. I mainly just bring a tank or two, a constructor, and give myself SPs. Then I knock out power to the towers by targeting them with the "T" key and then shoot at them from 190m-200m. Once power is out on the towers, I destroy anything that can fight back, leaving the wingmen to destroy the enemy rec, factory, unpowered towers, and scavs.
Don't forget to bring the GOLEM-AWAY! (aka the thumper)
