Hello forum, my name is Boydan, and I am a Battlezone/BZII fan.
I have successfully installed BZII on my mac using the 'crossover' gaming tool, and it worked flawlessly, after only minor tweaks.
I am now trying to make a similar Mac port of the Battlezone app/game from this site.
Has anyone used Wineskins, Cider, or Crossover to successfully launch Battlezone on a linux box? Are there any hints you can share?
I am getting as far as a full install, getting the startup dialog, then... unfortunately the game stalls after changing screen resolution, and then loading the green custom cursor.
This is one of my very favorite games of all times, and would LOVE to be able to run it on my mac without having to load a parrallels desktop, or a full VM desktop, or rebooting into windows fully. Partly because I love the game, but mostly because it seems like a fun, geeky way to do it.
Clearly, if this is ever successful I will post the Wine-skinned version of it here for download!
Looking forward to any good advice (other than buy a PC, I have a few, that's not the point) ....

I found 2 Mac topics, but not sure if anything useful for you there... http://www.battlezone1.org/battlezone-and-leopard-10-5-6-mac-t569.htmlhttp://www.battlezone1.org/battlezone-converted-to-mac-t595.htmlboydanFrooling wrote: I am now trying to make a similar Mac port of the Battlezone app/game from this site. You are talking about Bz98 installer? Try with different resolutions and/or modes (HW, SW & window). If nothing works try Bz1.5b installer.

I am exclusively attempting to stay parallel with your 1.5b installer, and use it for this purpose, as it is likely the only install with a chance of reasonable success.

Ah, so all described issues are 1.5 issues? Then you should talk to Ken. This Tech support section is for 1.4 only. Once 1.5 gets released, this will all turn into 1.4 archive and we'll start all over.

Still using BZ98 gotta start doing my porting work when fully awake!
