my first post!!

Hey Folks, i've been trying to play battlezone online with some friends, unfortunatly i cannot seem to get a working connection to anyone.
after fiddling around with some settings and ports we switched to trying a hamachi setup using Hamachi 1.0.3.6

some things i've tried.

Using the Battlezone 1.5B installer
i am unable to connect to any games on the Battlezone1.net server. (gives "Failed to join game")
i suspect it to work were i to put my computer in a DMZ, but my current router doesnt support the option. until i get myself a new isp that allows the use of a different router we're trying hamachi instead.

i've forwarded ports 21000-22000
Firewall and Antivirus have been disabled
i have an average 170 ping to my friend in the lobby, with 0% Loss.
2 out of 4 other "random" players in te lobby had a rather high ping of over 500 and 100% loss

does battlezone (1.5B) work with hamachi?
Will hamachi stil require the game's ports to be opened to establish a working connection?
anyone having some more suggestions for things i could try?

any and all comments are greatly appreciated

As said in the pinned port forwarding topic, you have to forward ports that most people are using (21-22k) and all those extra ports that you are using (40k, 50k...). Wireshark will tell you which ones you use (they are random and you get a new one each time you connect to the server). But if you are not one of those in 21-22k range, DMZ, which opens all ports, is your best chance. I find it strange that your router doesn't have DMZ, maybe it is just called differently? My router calls it "exposed host".

Every now and then someone talks about Hamachi, but I never heard of anyone really using it with BZ. Basically, it creates a virtual network, so if you make it to work with BZ it will bypass the Anet server (battlezone1.net), so port issue won't matter. But that is only for you and your friends, so finding DMZ, or whatever is called, sounds like a better solution.

now that i can finaly post again.....

ive read through the port forwarding topic again and opened the prots suggested there "21-22k" "40-60k" but to no avail...
canceled my current isp and will have switched completely hafway august somewhere... wich'll give me a modem with a dmz option

i will also try setting up a game with hamachi, with no ports opened and without a dmz on the new modem. thinking back on how i could see the game hosted by hamachi, im pretty sure it'll work

after some very time-consuming issues with my ssd... (if you ever get one AVOID sandforce controllers...)

im finally back online again, now with new Router!! (& isp)
this seems to fix the issue completely, and i didnt even need to DMZ my computer, the 21-22k range on ports worked just fine.

i've also set up multiple matches with a friend over hamachi V1.3.0. wich is a rather old version (didnt require any ports to be opened either)
so to anyone who cannot forward ports, whatever the reasons, try hamachi

BZ online is played on Anet server (battlezone1.net) which is in conflict with some routers due wide range of ports that could be assigned (BTW, I never suggested any specific port to be forwarded, I said use Wireshark to be sure which). Since Hamachi is not connected with the online server, it obviously doesn't require server's ports to be opened, so I don't see your point how Hamachi fixed anything.

You may want to check which .exe your shortcut is linked to. It should be "bzone.exe" now rather than "bzint_d3d9.exe". That happened to me once. Gave me a good laugh.
