Is there a difference between "Follow Me" and "Follow Close"?

In all the time that I've played single player missions and some multiplayer strategy, my AI units seemed to perform the same whether they were commanded to "Follow Me" or "Follow Close". Seems to me that "Follow Close" is a redundant command that could have been replaced with something else.

I once asked reaper to check it in the code. He read something like Follow Close should be following at 40m distance and Follow Me at 80m. But for some reason it doesn't work like it should, they are both 40m.
