I hope someone can help.

I played Battlezone on my PC (XP) a couple of years ago no problem. However a few months ago I had to change graphics card as my old one was playing up.
I upgraded to a NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 which is not a superflash gaming card, but better than my last one.

When I now load Battlezone with 3D graphics turned on in the options it won't display properly (either totally black screen, or totally distorted graphics - depending on what options I tweek in the configuration utility). When I switch the 3D option off the game runs ok, but looks a bit crap - nowhere near as good as I'm used to.

I updated the graphics drivers to the latest ones (6.14.12.8026) but it still won't work properly, and have also tried the oldest driver I could find for this card (6.14.12.6089) but this makes no difference.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get Battlezone to work properly on my card I'd be eternally grateful.

Can you provide a screenshot?

Do you have window mode selected in the configuration utility? If you are running at a resolution higher than 640x480, that doesn't work in window mode.

On another note, today was the target release date of the 1.5 patch... hopefully it won't be delayed much longer.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Here's a screenshot of how it looks when I turn the 3D graphics option on. This is taken from within the game (not Windows mode) at 1280 x 1024.
It does similar things (or just crashes) when I try in Windows mode.

Somebody else here had that issue.

Render can't fix that. I saw screenshots like yours when people were using old graphic card drivers. Since you have the latest (and you say that you tried some older ones too), your issue is very likely not fixable in 1.4. Stick to Win7 or 1.5. ;)

Will the 1.5 patch resolve this issue?

Just in case you got your updated drivers from Windows Update - don't. Rollback and get them from nVidia's site. MS seem to be generally pretty good at getting other peoples' drivers wrong.
