Why is it the razor scout and badger turrent are designated as old units where they around longer then anything else or has the war been longer then thought for example why does it say in the manual for RO that the badger turrent is aways under emergency repairs

You get Razor and Badger at the very beginning of the war, so that makes them very old units.
Turrets get damaged a lot during battle, so they do have to be repaired often.

I've always liked the Black Dogs, mostly because in Battlezone they seemed a bit "mysterious" to me, since not much was said about them, and they always seemed to be making trouble for the CCA.

Me too, I rember the second CCA mission where they show up first. I always wanted to play then and I was really exited when I got the Red Oddysey. Although there is one thing that I think is really strange and confusing, for example in the CCA Mission with the bombers you get told to destroy a Black Dog Recycler but it's actually a plain old NSDF one.
As of the Scout unit, in the first training mission you will be told that it's still in it's experimental state ("get in our experimental Scout tech") so it's indeed been there since the beginning of the war. Another interesting fact is that the Bobcat (Light Tank) was at first designed as the NSDF main battle tank (which is the Grizzly now).

or it could be that the war didnt start till the first mission. but the us goverment like allways made tanks to fight on different planets, even though there not even in a war yet. proably they got to the moon and desgined the bobcat, thunderbolt, recyler. then arkin came and made the grizzly and everything else(apparently he's a mad genius just read the intro the the manual.

well in the first american mission you have a scout, grizzly, bobcat and a thunderbolt its only until the first mars mission do you get the ability to make tanks and when venus comes along you get the ability to make bombers so why do they have them all the way on the moon test versions maybe?

Test versions perhaps. It's also strange that there is a pop gun. When you first get an armory later on Mars, you don't have pop gun yet. It also goes without saying that somebody goofed and put a RAVE on the first mission.

I think it was just for funzies. tigermki wrote: well in the first american mission you have a scout, grizzly, bobcat and a thunderbolt its only until the first mars mission do you get the ability to make tanks and when venus comes along you get the ability to make bombers so why do they have them all the way on the moon test versions maybe? It seems the designs weren't programmed into the Recycler or Factory. They probably constructed them by hand until they did program them. The stories that go along with Battlezone, the Recycler, Scavenger, Badger, Razor, and Bobcat where made with what little Biometal landed on Earth. Later, during the Korean War, the Nazis on the moon tried to invade North America, but got pwned by the Americans using the Biometal tanks, infantry, and Rockets. Later on, the Americans head for the moon during the Eisenhower presidency. Once there, the Recycler and Scavenger is reduced in size, Badger is switched from using drill heads to STAB hooks, the Razor's cockpit doesn't use cockpits from WWII planes anymore but still keeps the design, and the Bobcat is probably refitted and is reassigned later to make way for the Grizzly. Battlezone probably starts around the same time the Vietnam War started.

i personally think that bz and the Ro happened during the 60s. you can cover up the massive amounts of personall missing by saying they went to a nonexistent base in Vietnam. and its easier to ship back the bodies.
