 Post subject: HELP with "Get Arkin" IA

OK, I'm totally stuck. I've been playing Mike Arkin's IA series Get Arkin and I cannot get past 5 minutes into the 1st mission. If anyone has any strategy advice for the beginning I would love to hear it.

Maybe you shouldn't bother with those heavily modified impossible-to-beat missions. I can't seem to survive either. It's not natural to have a bomber with raves coming to attack my stuff. :roll: Is it just me, or do the colors look bad? Hard on the eyes, heavily modded, and practically impossible. I wanted to help you, but after trying the mission, I decided that it isn't worth my time.

I've noticed that some of the only fair AI missions like "wreckers" aren't on the maps download list. Could these be re-added?

I think Spock reupped the list recently although "Wreckers" doesn't seem to be on it. And I STILL can't find Canyon Madness. :cry:

Apparently it is beatable. The enemy units all have heavy upgrades although with the exception of the raves Spork mentioned the weapons all seem to be stock. It's the mf'n 6 Howies on the plateau that are pissing me off. I can't seem to get to them. I'm down to thumping the vertical wall just to buy build time.

I actually really like the color scheme. Although it is strange to see blue landscape after playing on the standard planets it definitely shouldn't be hard on the eyes. It's the same landscape rendering as in the Screaming Eagles IA series, supposedly on Alpha Centauri 3.

BTW, Arkin is one of the producers of BZ and the turncoat who takes off in the 3rd transport in the NSDF campaign is apparently his namesake. Here's the mission pack background:

"Shortly after the battle with the Furies, the traitor Arkin broke off all ties with the CCA. He had all but vanished for 10 years until intelligence learned that he had joined forces with a large group of criminals and international terrorists, none of which had any love for the U.S. It was shortly thereafter that they managed to hijack the interplanetary cruiser Andromeda containing a new prototype Black Dog recycler. This production unit is capable of producing the latest state-of-the-art weaponry. They were tracked at high speed on a course for Alpha Centauri, where the cruiser and recycler were originally headed. Analysis of Cthonian records had revealed that there is a great deal of undiscovered Cthonian technology waiting there on the third planet.

The only other available interplanetary cruiser was scrambled and assigned to chase the hijackers down. It was agreed that the Black Dog production unit must be destroyed at all costs. Arkin is a very dangerous, delusional individual who would surely return to use the Cthonian technology against us.
"

Like it isn't hard enough for me to locate maps on dead or dying map sites, then upload them on bz1.net, you also expect me to read each post in every topic cause someone might post a map wish? Use proper channels. http://www.battlezone1.org/downloads-maps-t797.html

Beside, your post has nothing to do with the subject. (Unless topic gets renamed to "How to beat modded maps" :))

These missions are not made by BZ producer Mike Arkin, they are made by somebody who goes by the name "BS-er". They are basically a fan-made creation. I think the concept is great, an expanded story to track down the traitor Arkin who stole a relic in the campaign. But the raving bombers, blasting tanks, and blasting rocket tanks, all of which cannot be sniped, (the rocket tank cannot pick me up) makes this a super-modified IA map pack.

BS-er had a guide on his "Launch Pad" website, I believe...you are not the only one to experience difficulty. Unfortunately, since Planet Battlezone now directs to RPG planet, those guides are gone :(
