Hi guys. Its been a year since I played BZ. I have been playing other games like SC2, COD and mass effect. Those games get boring but for some reason I always get this urge to play BZ every so offten. So I am glad to come back and start blowing up some soviets!

On another note is scrap making still possible? Its no secret that I LOVE scrap making and messing around with games. I hope when I get my answer I won't be sadly dissapointed. If scrap making no longer possible I will more then likely leave because strat matches are fun but I get bord of them easy. Hey if that is the case then life is tragedy is it not?

A message to the competitive bz players. I promice I won't scrap make if you set that as a rule before the game starts. So lets not restart the flame battle we had last year. All I want to have those over the top strat matches scrap making can proived with player who are ok with it. THink of scrap making like a custom game it doesn't mean anything but its fun. Or maybe so far a mod. Everyone knows that mods extend shelf life of video games.

Scrap making majorly interfered with serious stratters, and even the best stratters were forced to make scrap if they wanted to have more advantage, because it was just too good an exploit with constructor to not use, and we're not scrubs. Early in my stratting career I was going to implement scrapmaking as part of the ultimate strategy. So it got fixed. Boohoohoo for you.

The only thing I don't like about the fix is I can no longer make a game and quickly build an indestructible base while leaving all the scrap on the map, so others can join and attack me.

Other than that I think it was a good decision to fix the unintentional gameplay flaw of constructor giving excessive extra scrap, with its ease of killing.

Don't worry, you can still kill factory for 6 scrap and free pilots.

Being competitive is fun, especially in BZ. Maybe you should try be a good player and stop messing around with scrap making, because it's no longer overpowered.

yea but didn't that add somthing to the game when you got bord?

Yes, but at the expense of making strat f*** up for everyone else.

You can still make scrap easily with factory, grendel, silo's, and anything else you think is a fast method. And since these scrapmaking methods generally wouldn't work in proper strategy, it doesn't interfere with people playing properly.

In a strat, you are meant to be aggressive and fight for the scrap, protecting your scavengers while building an army to attack the enemy base. I've never found scrapmaking to be something to go to when I was bored; in fact, I personally think it makes the game boring. A fun game is an aggressive game, win or lose.

Who gets bored with BZ? ;) Even if such a thing were possible, scrapmaking wouldn't solve boredom.

Is that the behaviour of a good game? Fighting agressive? Is there no room in the defined strategy of bz1 for scrapmaking? Is it not a form of turtling defensive strategy?

I've never felt the need to scrapmake. I never even considered was a possibility until encountering it on this forum, in fact. If so many players can do fine without it and still think this game is amongst the best ever made (if not the best ever made) then why can't you? You do not need to scrapmake in order to make the game fun!

The reason scrapmaking is being removed is becayse it is an exploit, and was not the intent of the original designers. As soon as somebody starts to misuse the game engine for their own ends (exploiting a bug) then the issue needs to be fixed before it gets out of hand. It seems that 1.5 is a little late in that regard, though given the rifting in this community it is unsuprising.

Let me put this into an analogy. Imagine a generic team FPS, a bit like Team Fortress. Imagine somebody discovers that shooting teammates increases their health. Suddenly, everybody is doing it. If you don't realise this, it puts you at a massive disadvantage. The designers didn't want shooting teammates to increase their health, so they decide it needs fixing. Is it wrong of them, simply because some players think shooting teammates is good?

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Hmm... No.

TL;DR - Scrapmaking is a bug that became an exploit. Therefore it should be fixed.

I admit it is fun to mess with scrapmakers on occasion, though. Siege and destroy their base with howies, and it makes them furious when you protect your howies...and as soon as you're in they quit

Turtling is by no means a winning strategy in BZ1, so why use it?

What don't you guys ever use the kick command! Its easy!

I have had many pro's tell me that scrap makers lose easily aganist a pro in a game. if you are afraid of a scrap makesr I guess your not a pro just a guy that gets owned.

Yes there are other ways to scrap make but it doesn't seem like it drops that much scrap.
