HOLY *&^$!!!1 i used to play the SOCKS off of this game back in my teen years!!! sweet that it is still alive and kickin!!! Im a lonely barracks Marine, who is married and unable to move wife out to west coast yet (condo in NH we need to sell) and i have been searching for games i loved and i looked loosely a while back for this but not too deep. well hot damn i think i found it. I used to love to play and i DID notice it was heavily hacked back then, but still very fun!! even one player! love the concept and i think the gaming industry could learn from this game!! it has best of both worlds!! very creative and explosive!

but anyways!!! i need to know what to download from where and steps i need to take to get going please! i run vista 64 bit and well im sure thats all u need to know if even that. i think an ipod can run this game by now? jk. but yeah i didnt see any down load areas so please help. THANKS!!!

5th section of this forum is "Downloads" section. You will find there BZ98 installer, nothing else is needed to play the game. However, you have Vista 64bit, which has issues with BZ (check 6th section - Tehnical support). If you don't make it to run, you should stick with us for a while and wait for 1.5 patch, which is currently being made (check 1st section - 1.5 patch). It is going to fix all techincal issues and even some gameplay bugs.

ok thats what i thought. BZ1 installer didnt exactly sound like bz1 "game". sounded like something i need to downlaod before i down load the game. but thanks. ill down load whilst i get some sleep. ciao for now man!

1.Install the game on hard disk.
If you have problems to install, set compatibility for Win98.

2.Follow steps 1 (1. Patching original Battlezone disk) and 2 (2. Configuring render) from

3.Set CD drive letter so it plays in-game music. Follow instructions contained here

If you do not know how to set compatibility mode (step 1 above), you may need to follow these steps:

1.Open "My Computer" (Windows XP) or "Computer" (Vista) icon
2.Insert Battlezone CD
3.If it starts automatically, exit the splash screen of Battlezone
4.Right click on the drive where the CD is.
5.Click on "Explore"
6.Open Windows notepad
7.Drag the file Autorun.inf into Notepad window
8.Look for the name of the EXE file on the CD and right click on it (in explorer, not notepad).
9.Click on "properties"
10.Click on "Compatibility" tab
11.Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" checkbox
12.Select Windows 98 in the combo box.
13.Press "OK" button.

The next time you insert the CD, it will run in Windows 98 mode, so you should have no problems to install Battlezone.
