Hi I dowloaded bz on a comp with over 3 Gs of ram how do i run it in XP compatibiliy mode?
The reason i need to run it in XP compatibility is because the graphics are really poor and this compter has a incredible video card.

Thank you ,
Bike fanatic

It's in the FAQ. :)

EDIT: Nevermind, the FAQ doesn't tell you HOW to do it.

Right click on bzone.exe or BZ shortcut, click properties, click the compatibility tab.

ok i tryed that but I still have problems it crashes with a UE when I try to launch a game in multi using 1.4 and using 1.5 beta, it crashes when i start a single player game and when I try multi player it says cannot join game or if I am hosting a game it crashes when i attempt to launch it.

I would wonder if it something to do with the fact that i can't get it to recognize the 3d abilities of this comp... It just had XP installed on it so it may be that if I install the graphics driver, sound card, and the like this may just go away. Note:the firewall is configured to let BZ through now.

I get a note from BZ whenever i start it saying "CreateSurface for flipscreen failed. A DirectDraw object was attempted but the driver did not support any hardware."

I would attach a screenshot but "the extension bmp is not allowed."

Now no matter which version i use it cannot join game.

That sounds to me like it would be a problem. Install your drivers and try again. :P

Which one is it then, poor graphics or UE?

No, it's not.

I assume that you mean that sarcastically. It took me nearly half an hour to type that message because I was using a silent keyboard and they require more pressure with each stroke so I was repeatedly fixing misspellings.

When I said:

I was referring to the computer with the first and second "it", and the third "it" was referring to BZ.

Both, poor graphics in game in 1.4 and 1.5 beta, UE (which I assume stands for Unhandled Exception) when launching a joined or hosted game in 1.4, crash when doing the same in 1.5 beta.

you may be correct but every other time I have attempted to join a game with the firewall up, the message box in the room simply continues in an unending line of periods. Ending only when I click back going back to the lobby, at that time in says that I was unable to join game. With 1.5 beta it doesn't even get to the game room. I would assume that what Sporkinator said will fix the problem.

I am also in the verge of getting permission from my dad to let the family computer play online without any additional danger to the computers. So I am hoping to be able to play online next Sunday afternoon.

I've gotta go now I am supposed to cook pizza for the family tonight. :D
