ok
i have a speed stream 5200 and a net gear n600 dual band router
i use it to connect to my Xbox and my computer after a tech guy came out and fixed my telephone line that got fried by lightning i couldn't connect anymore . i messed with many settings but the fix was in the Nat settings they had to be disabled in order to connect but just disabling the Nat did not work i could connect to the net join lobby but couldn't connect or join a game so i contacted the techs at my isp the fix was a bridge if you have a speed stream 5200 this will make it a bridged connection http://192.168.254.254/brgmode.cgi if you then disable the Nat on the speed stream you can then use just the net gear router to connect without port forwarding 21000 -22000
i think if you have different equipment the process is the same the Nat must be disabled and a bridge must be used all i know it works great and everything else works as well i don't notice any loss of speed or difference yet :)
also needed to be done with the net gear router after disabling Nat in the speed stream you must set your Nat filtering to open option this is located in the wan tab after that is done reboot and your done i don't know if other equipment will be the same but its a good start or avenue to look into disable nat create a bridge set nat filtering to open if you have only one router you may just be able to set Nat to disabled and go with that but if you are like me and have a home network and more then one thing connected you may have a conflict in the 2 routers just as i did
disabling the Nat on first router/modem in the connection stream then fix [bridge] your second router so basically the first router must be worked around and then the second one must be fixed [IE bridged]
i am not good with this stuff and worked 5 days finding this solution but in researching this it is a very common problem for all games and isp's i found out about Nat settings via goggle if you look into it it may fix yours as well regardless of your equipment the premiss is the same
good luck and if i can help with any specific questions about my speed stream or net gear fix ill be glad to help but if it is not those 2 types i will be clueless good luck
