Have been playing 1.5b version of Battlezone on a Windows 7 laptop using the 1600x900 resolution & it is really great & so far very smooth! Congratulations to Ken & anyone others revamping this!
When I was running the game on XP several yrs ago I was able to use Susser's (I think) Instant Action launcher which was a great addon for running IA maps. I have tried using this with 1.5 battlezone & it see's the maps but I get runtime error 53 missing file? I can run a map but renaming my shortcut!? I know this is still in the 'test' phase but is anyone still using this addon for sorting out all the IA maps?

The latest "BzConfig 9000" isn't on the first page, which is important to know if you want the one that works with 1.5. battlezone-config-9000-t342-15.html#p12519If you find a bug or something doesn't work, you can tell me. The program is kind of due for a rewrite, but I'm waiting for the release of 1.5.

It has instant_action.txt which stores IA entries. It's a bit like netmis.txt in BZ, with an entry for each map on its own line. If the map BZN file is not in addon, it won't show up in the list. I'll probably have to change that in the future if IA maps get packed into ZFS or sorted into addon sub-directories since 1.5 has support for that now.

Oh, and I need to add my disclaimer. Quote: The utilities in this topic are my own, and are not made or necessarily supported by "Spock" or other players in the BZ community. Use at your own risk. Do not use this to test 1.5 for Ken. He isn't involved with this project, nor is Christian Leinen. None of Leinen's source code was used, I built this from scratch, and he probably doesn't even know this program exists. If my BzConfig has a bug or doesn't work you, it's not Spock's fault, Ken Miller's fault, or BZ's fault. It's either your fault or my fault. In that case we'll try to figure it out. The first page is now updated with current version. It's an installer. The program became complex with a few DLL plugins, so installer for it became necessary in my opinion to keep things simple. instant_action.txt isn't very user friendly. I'll replace that mechanism with something better in the future.

Does anybody have a copy of THE "instant action launcher"? as in (.ial)? I've been lookin everywhere but cant seem to find it...
BZ config is great and sexy and stuff but it doesn't have text/briefing support, easy planet designation, or a decent way to have your map appear as anything but its .BZN name in the launcher list. (pretty please correct me where I'm wrong here!). Plus, if I recall correctly, IAL looks just like the BZ shell, which is always a big plus.
AND YES, IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING. I AM still working on 14 mission IA pack! SO THERE!

Quote: or a decent way to have your map appear as anything but its .BZN name in the launcher list. If any map shows up as just its file name in BZ Config 9000, that's because it's not listed in BZ's netmis.txt file and not listed in BZ Confg 9000's "instant_action.txt" file. Indeed, my utility has no support for mission briefing or any fancy stuff. That's because it was built as a configuration utility with IA mission launching as an afterthought. At one point, it had the configuration stuff but no level selection, which was added later. In the future, I might make a new one that looks like the BZ shell that supports mission briefings and planet animations.

I thought there might be a way to "name" maps... It recognized the Battlegrounds maps...
Still glad to have it. Look forward to those updates!

Yeah, the instant_action.txt list that comes with it has a bunch of entries for IA maps that are or were included in the 1.4 installer. I never bothered to remove any entries because maps that are not in the addon folder don't show up, with the exception of the campaign missions and stock multiplayer maps.
