Hi everyone. First post here. I'd appreciate a little guidance please. I own the Battlezone CD as well as Red Odyssey from the Battlezone Gold pack. I'm not interrested in playing any mods or custom maps. I might try some of the extra stuff available here afterwards but for now, I just want to play plain ol' Battlezone, but on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. So far, it's been an exercice From what I've seen, THIS, is the right place to be for that. However, I haven't seen any kind of sticky regarding the install procedure. Maybe the installer work so simply that I'm just concerned for nothing, though... Do I have to install the game from my CD then simply apply the 1.5 Patch? It's such an awesome game that I must play it once more! Thanks in advance for any reply...

Hi, Quote: I haven't seen any kind of sticky regarding the install procedure. You are looking for a technical support, not for a discussion, right? In "Technical Support" section of the forum you have sticky "FAQ". #1 there is "Patching original BZ disk". If that doesn't help, there is a subforum "Windows 7" with sticky "Read first" explaining everything you need to know/do. There's no general fix for 1.4 issues and Win7 64bit is not enough information for me to tell you what to do. Depending on your other hardware you will be able to run 1.4 just fine, or not at all. Quote: Do I have to install the game from my CD then simply apply the 1.5 Patch? There's no 1.5 patch yet. BZ98 installer is 1.4 installer with all available fixes already applied. Use that if you are not techy enough to patch the original game on your own. 1.5b is 1.5 beta installer, with currently available 1.5 fixes. Those are changing every week and it is basically for testing only (although pretty playable). Installers are available here.

Thanks a bunch for you reply. Mr. Spock wrote: Hi,
You are looking for a technical support, not for a discussion, right? Quite right. Since I'm new to these forums, I just thought it would be the proper place to post first, in order to kinda "introduce" myself. Besides, I had questions regarding Windows 7 compatibility, as well as patch 1.5b, because I wanted to know if it solved Windows 7 issues. Mr. Spock wrote: There's no general fix for 1.4 issues and Win7 64bit is not enough information for me to tell you what to do. You're right. My system specs are as follow : Abit IP35 Pro Intel Quad Core Q8400 2.66, overclocked @3.5GHz 8Gb Kingston HyperX, running at 1:1 with CPU 2x Seagate 160Gb in RAID 0, 16Kb stripes EVGA GTX570 Superclocked Soundblaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro Series Mr. Spock wrote: There's no 1.5 patch yet. I'm well aware that it is a beta patch. I was just wondering if that new patch could solve those issues with Windows 7. I'll go and check out what you pointed me to, but in the meantime, I'll surely welcome your input as to if my current setup may run BZ in Win 7 64-bit. Thanks again!

Quote: Since I'm new to these forums, I just thought it would be the proper place to post first, in order to kinda "introduce" myself. It is polite thing to do - first introduce yourself, then ask for help, so you did the right thing. It's just that you did it in the same topic while saying (tehnical) stickies are not useful. Nevermind, all is good, where were we... Considering your system specification, after installing 1.4 installer, you will have to set WinXP compatibility on the executable and set game resolution to 800x600 or higher. Even then you will experience some graphical issues (radar, menu with numbers...), and unfortunately there's no cure for that in 1.4. All that is common for Nvidia cards, but there's a small chance your card and its driver will make an exception. Of course, you won't know until you try it out. Anyhow, those issues are the main reason 1.5 is being made... After installing 1.5 installer, additional tweaking won't be needed, the game will run perfectly fine. Just don't forget to replace the executable (overwrite the one in the installer with the one posted in the current build topic), since I haven't been updating the installer lately.

1.4 and 1.5 install into separate folders, and each contains full game, so you can have both in the same time. They lead to a different online lobbies too, so you won't find many 1.5 players. When 1.5 is done, all from 1.4 will migrate there...

Well, thanks again! I'll try all that and then make sure to go to the proper section of the forum if I need anything else.
