I saw this problem in the FAQ, but the fix appeared to pertain to XP, and I didn't get it anyway (computer dumb = me).
I've tried software mode and windowed mode, no help.
I'm running Windows 7 on a Pentium I5 233 with 4 megs and a GTS 250.
Any help much appreciated.

And I didn't know what XP compatibility mode was until now, thanks for the pointer. (edit) Mmm, graphics are a little trippy. Very rainbowish. Shall experiment.

Hi
Are you running the BZInstaller from the main website, or an experimental build?

Snowcone, of course he's running Battlezone 1.4. Experimental Build has nothing to do with this, he's trying to get Battlezone 1.4 to work on his Windows 7.

Corrupt graphics and unstable any time I try to run it full screen in software mode or not. But the the mouse isn't nearly sensitive enough when Windowed, even cranked... gonna try the joystick tomorrow. I can play in a window, as long as input is good. I do appreciate all the work folks have done to bring this game back, though. One of a kind. BZInstaller, snowcone. If it isn't obvious by now, I wouldn't know an Experimental Build from a hole in the ground.

Ah... the decrease in mouse sensitivity is a side-effect of Battlezone's biggest bug, the FPS bug, where the gameplay isn't as good with a frame rate over 60. The higher your FPS is over 60, the worse the mouse control is, and the faster everything is. This bug causes even more problems in multiplayer, (check server rules) not only are you faster, but it causes extra network lag. Luckily all these issues have already been addressed in experimental builds of the 1.5 patch. Unfortunately, the patch isn't done yet, otherwise we'd all be playing it already. The experimental build will probably run just fine for you in fullscreen though. (Experimental build is NOT a solution to your problem, but you can try it out if you want. It runs in a different multiplayer lobby) I've heard that the Microsoft application compatibility toolkit is helpful with some BZ issues, but beyond that I don't know anything about it, because I've never had that kind of issue with BZ, even on my bro's Windows 7 laptop (32 bit, and it used to have XP which ran BZ fine, so since the hardware is the same, it runs fine in Windows 7 too) At this point, I am unable to help you further, maybe somebody else can take a crack at it.
