My problem is slightly different.

The game runs, but it keeps freezing, so I have to save and exit, re-start, and continue from that point, which is a bit annoying.

Running Win XP, NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS, AMD 664 x2Dual core 4400.

Any suggestions?

This topic is about not being able to launch Bz at all, when having over 3GB of RAM. So your problem isn't slightly different, it is completely different.

If you can save and exit, that means your Bz is not freezing, at least not completely. You must be experiencing Nvidia's yellow screen isssue. If you have the latest Nvidia driver there's no help for you beside waiting on a 1.5 patch which will fix those issues. In meantime, check Bz1.5beta installer available there.

So it even has a name - the Nvidia yellow screen issue. I like it!

OK, so just keep an eye out for the 1.5, and do my best until then.

At least you can save at that point and continue, so it's not the end of the world I guess.

Beside "yellow screen" some call it "FPS drop", but maybe the most proper name, techincal name, is "memory leak". It's happening due Nvidia's dx10+ card drivers, which dropped support for dx5, needed for BZ. There are many topics about the same problem. For some pressing ESC (or alt-tabbing) when "yellow" is about to happen, then going back, prevents it.

Ow, that makes 1.5 patch even more needed.
It's not just operating system trouble now, it's videocard drivers issue.

We've needed 1.5 patch for a long time. Things just continue to get worse with newer OS's and stuff.
