I've played BZ1 since it first came out - and yes, I even own a copy of the original CD. I have now got it working on my Windows 7, 64 bit machine with the latest patch (bzone_d3d9.exe). However, I have no idea what Red Odyssey is and how to install it. The instructions as a sticky on this forum indicate that I should be able to find the ISO on the game CD....nope. Nothing there. Please advise?

bzone_d3d9.exe is work-in-progress 1.5 patch. Battlezone 1.4 and Red Odyssey 1.3 are available in the Battlezone 1998 installer at http://www.battlezone1.net.

Looks like I won't be playing it - I need the 1.5 patch to get it working on my 64bit machine! I was under the impression that Red Odyssey was a mission addon pack or something. Thanks.

Thanks. It is, but it has its own codebase, so Ken can't patch it... and it has its own soundtrack.

Actually 1.5 isn't needed for Windows 7. I downloaded the installer he pointed you at when I still had Windows 7 64bit and it works perfectly given you have the correct settings. I also have the original cd (2 actually) so if I want music and intro I just put the CD in and it'll play them (except for the RO ones ) http://www.battlezone1.net/home/index.html You'll also need to change compatibility mode to Windows XP.

Works fine on Win XP pro - only problem is, it's VERY hard!
Just finished the Black Dog bit and working on the Chinese missions - and still stuck on the second one, dammit. They're all multi-part, so a lot of saving going on.

RO is difficult. I've beaten all the missions on hard, except for Chinese Mission #2 due to epic failure, and Chinese Mission #8 due to a certain random crash. It was great fun.

Quote: it works perfectly given you have the correct settings What are the correct settings? I have a Toshiba Satellite A505 with a 64 bit bit system, which I am running on windows 7 home premium edition. It has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 series graphics card. I am currently just using 1.5. I recently installed Battlezone 1998, and the only way I could get RO to load was by running it in software mode, which is very irritating, needless to say. Otherwise, RO AND BZ gave me a UE as soon as the game launched and tried to go to the main menu. I set both to compatibility mode for WinXPSP3 and I still got the same results. Please help!

Currently, there's no way to run BZ/RO on Win7+ATI in HW mode (Win7+Nvidia is a different story). Only thing that could fix that is ATI making drivers with support for older DX, but I seriously doubt that will happen anytime soon. That's why we are making 1.5 patch which uses DX9. And yes, RO will die with 1.4.
