I see, when it comes to testing maps, everybody's quiet, but when maps get into installer, they are not good enough, or something is missing. :) The thing is there are only few good custom maps, and those are already in the installer. However, I would like if someone could prove me wrong and bring us a new map to play on...

In meantime I updated strat maps section with all strat maps I could find, and gave each file a proper .bzn name. The goal is to put all maps there and eliminate the need of searching for Bz maps elsewhere but bz1.net. (I'll soon fill DM and IA section too.)

The CZar cockpit needs to be fixed. It's broken in the current EB1.5 installer.

Here's a pic of the CZar cockpit as it should appear:

In 1.5 it appears to be a stub without the cannon piece on the end, and the texture is messed up like it is in BZE:

I vote that you keep all of the IA maps, except for The Great Pyramid, mostly because you start in a lousy Eagle Lander and that annoying wind sound plays all the time...

Machoman does have irritating things in it, but it is still fun
Payback is... different, but also fun
I had a blast on Wreckers, sooooo awesome
Alien Yard is indeed hard, but quite doable...

It's not whether or not an IA mission is do-able(well maybe sometimes), the question mainly is if it is too modded. Alien Yard was too modded, especially with the f-ed up light tank, I literally got motion sickness trying to drive it.

Wreckers was ok, but modded Factory making Recyclers? Along with some wierd stuff, it may be too modded, but I'm not certain with that map.

Never tried Payback or Machoman, couldn't say what to do about it.

As for Great Pyramid, while I like the CCA faction, everything else is f-ed up. I tried it several times, and it is insane. :?

Heh, I guess I'll have to rummage through that IA mission site to find some good CCA IA missions. It gets boring playing one faction after a while.

It seems as though I have sowed the seed of confusion by accident, have to do better next time... To make up for it, I present the 'fixed' custom bdog tank cockpit and the original czar cockpit... Note that the czar cockpit will work with LA on and off...

Please note that this topic is about the 1.5 installer. I seriously doubt that the 1.5 installer will not have anything from the Bz1998 installer; these files should fix some of the 'brokenness' that will result from transferring certain Bz1998 files to the 1.5b installer.

I'll say it one more time - BZ98 had optional custom grizzly cause there was something "wrong" with the stock 1.4 grizzly. Since there is easier way to fix that, by deleting "broken" geo files (fix "approved" by Ken), that custom grizzly won't be used anymore, so there's no need to work on its fixes.

Even more, I'll make sure for models in 1.5 to give MVM to avoid cheating (don't ask why or how).

hey that's fine with me, I just wanted to make sure that if you did use it, it wouldn't be messed up. FYI I like the stock one better too... (used it since forever too)

I don't see how something as ridiculously little as a cockpit is considered cheating. But if you do manage to pull it off, that'll be one less way to cheat.

Hi all

This is my first post in this forum

I’ve played Battlezone from the day I found a green ugly  CD in the box containing my very first IBM desktop computer back in 1998

And I played it from time to time ever since.
I stumbled over this site by accident (again) and I discovered that I was able to run the new 1.5b on my Win7-64 rig. Now that is amazing! Thanks a lot to the one/s making that possible :D
I have to run it in window mode, but it’s almost bug free. Great job :!:

I have a couple of question:
1: I see there is a *.pdb file present in the install. Is there a “crashlog” somewhere in the install?
2: Is the “New Build” an update to 1.5b ?

My specs:
i5-750
4g ram
HD 4870 (10.7)
Win7-64/XP (dual boot)

1. .pdb is the program debug database. (for debugging crashes)
2. Every time a new build is made, the installer gets updated.

I'm assuming you crashed while using a high resolution? That happens to me too, when going from game to shell.

Thanks Sporkinator

Yes, if playing in “full screen mode” 1600/1200 the game crash when leaving 3D world.
It crashes likewise in XP PRO.
I run in window mode now 1600/1200 and the game never crash. I actually finished the campaign on the blue side with almost no bug problems at all.

When running the game in Win7-64 in window mode and leaving 3D world, the UI (shell?)box sometimes “disappears”.
If that happens, I just click the “desktop button” on the far right at the taskbar a few times and the UI box reappears on the screen again. Looks like it get placed outside the viewable area on the screen sometimes.

Pdb has to to be used with Visual C++ debugger. You can get Visual C++ Express for free here, but Ken never clearly explained what are we supposed to do with it. :)

If your issues with 1.5b are connected with the game itself, like crashing and stuff, that isn't my (installer's) fault, cause I only put together stock BZ files with the new things that Ken has made and then pack it into installer for easier usage. You should report your technical issues to Ken, in the current build topic, which ATM is this one or somewhere else within 1.5 forum category.

This topic is for trivial suggestions like custom maps that you want to see in the next installer or its final version.

Ok, thanks for answer and correction :!:

I’ll post in the appropriate topic next time, new guy you know
