Hi all once again. Long time! Happy to see both you and the game are still alive and shooting I'm doing ok too. Even when I'm not getting any younger and have been without PC/internet and Battlezone for some 1 and a half year. It has actually done me well Ok, I don't know who to bother with this. I found a half finished battlezone strategy map on a CD. I got started years ago while I was still playing, messed it up and then I retired. I just gave it another try a few days ago, now that life calms down in Norway in the winter months and I think it could be (become) a worthy Battlezone Strategy map, good for a lot of action. Before distribution: It is needet to have it played/tested online in multiplayer by a couple experienced players. As for now I am not able to play online myself (I do have an opportunity to get online a few weeks around xmas time, thinking about it). Before testing 2 minor problems should be fixed: 1) I can't seem to get the BMP file updated (Map Layout). Whatever I mess with, it stays the same old file from an earlier save. 2) I don't know how/where to add map discriptions in order to have these displayed on the screen before gamestart. (the box where mapname, amount of scrap, geysers etc, is displayed) Dous anyone have the time to help me with this? In return I may join the lobby a few weeks soon and play some. Then I also could sort out some old issues with those mean stratters Spock and Hal9000 Thanks in advance!

Hello my northern buddy, Always nice to hear from you, especially when you bring presents. I was just about to upload new BZ installer (BZ98v1.3), cause we got 2 new DLL updates in the meantime, and although installer is as perfect as it can be (like always ), it misses one thing - a strat map by JB! Quote: 1) I can't seem to get the BMP file updated (Map Layout). Whatever I mess with, it stays the same old file from an earlier save. Delete BMP you have in your main BZ folder and run shellmap command again. New BMP should appear. Quote: 2) I don't know how/where to add map discriptions in order to have these displayed on the screen before gamestart. (the box where mapname, amount of scrap, geysers etc, is displayed) You need a DES file (with the same name as your BZN). I uploaded an example, you just put your map data into it. When you are done with it, you can upload it here (zip it before) or send it to me over email. I'll test it with HAL. Looking forward playing you again...

Hi Spock, thanks for quick reply.
I have limited PC time where I am now and do not have all map editing stuf here either. To get this map tested, polished and ready as quick as possible, can I email the mapfiles to you? Can you do the BMP update and the DES file thingy?

Btw I got your latest BZ installer, that thing runs pretty smooth. Nice job! As there is plenty of stratmaps includet there allready, no need to add my map in addition if you come to the conclusion it is just another one. Just say it as it is, no problem In case you like it enough, gimme a sign so I can plan some PC time today (sunday). The coming week there will be little time. Also cool to see Mr Ken Miller has joined the community and uses time on trying to make BZ even better. Hoping he and others involved succeed. And just so it's not forgotten mentioned: I think you pretty much saved BZ out of the sweaty claws at the BZE tea club. Not wanting to stir up anything now that things seem to run fine, but that bunch of clowns were close to kill off this game. Also a big thanks to the guy responsible for keeping the BZ server going!

Hey BzO JonBlund , nice to hear from you again. Yeah, things are going well in the BZ land. It should get even better when the patch comes out. Be sure to post your thoughts there if you find some time. Wow, I didn't know you also make maps. I tried it in the Editor and it really looks good. You can't miss with Mars. I think it will be a blast to play on it, because like you said in map readme, it has all the good elements from the other popular maps. There's a long drive from the middle to the outer geysers though, but that may finally bring "back" the usage of the Satellite (for guiding Howies).

Hi Hal, good to see you too It is not easy to know how much you should be credited for keeping BZ going. It's Spock that does the talking. But I bet you've been of great support behind the scene. And let's not forget your gameplay which should be quite an inspiration for others. I find it amazing you guys have managed to pull BZ in the right direction and away from the mess. Cool you liked the map so far. It's quite some time absorbing work for me, I'm not a PC nerd. Yes my thought was also to put up a satelite-friendly terrain. It is an underestimated and forgotten piece of equipment and can, with some training, make up for nasty surprises. We'll see if it becomes a popular map, long way to go to beat Ice Baby, Corner or Canyon

Now it's just to wait for the latest BZ98 installer. I will join the lobby in a few days and play some. Please help me warm up before taking on bastards like Hal and Spock will you

All I did for BZ should be divided with 2 and that half credit given to HAL. Whenever I say "I made", "I discovered"... it is actually "We". HAL just doesn't like to be exposed. I still remember him showing me your emailed Corner Pocket tutorial... Since that day nothing was the same. You saw something in that newbie, at that point, called woody, while I was just a brother. Thanks to that, here we are today.
