Hey guys,
I just got this problem today. My Battlezone always ran fine, had 3D acceleration on and resolution at 1280 X 1024. Just now when I went to launch the game it gave me this problem before it launched:
Failed to init 3D Hardware Acceleration SetDisplayMode to 640x480x16 failed Action not supported.
It came up in a box. Now when it's at the main menu it only take up a quarter of the screen (the entire main menu is at the top left). Single player campaign is a black screen and it crashes when I start a multiplayer game now. What does that message mean? It ran fine and all of a sudden I get this. Little help please. Thank you.

Quote: Failed to init 3D Hardware Acceleration SetDisplayMode to 640x480x16 failed Action not supported. Is the "Enable High Resolutions" setting enabled in the Configuration Utility? Enable it if it's not already enabled. It would seem your monitor doesn't support 640x480 16 bit, and BZ cannot use higher resolutions unless they are enabled. If that doesn't work or is not the problem, go into GRAPHIC OPTIONS in Battlezone and change the resolution to the one you want.

It says:
[NormalView] ;VisibilityScale=150 // Extend visibility to 150% of normal HiRes=1 // Enable 800x600 and higher
Should I set it to enable 640x480 and higher or should I change the number for the HiRes= area?
P.S. when I tried to change the resolution with the 3D Card option on it wouldn't let me. It was stuck at 640x480.
P.P.S. The same thing is happening when I launch The Red Odyssey.

Oh, you already have high resolutions enabled. Strange. What operating system are you running?

Graphics drivers were updated last week. Went on that link you gave me Mr. Spock, didn't really do a whole lot though... I run windows xp home edition with sp3. I'm just confused as to why it worked perfectly a few nights ago then all of a sudden the next day it decides to crap out.

You must of changed something on your computer. You can't get that message just like that. Maybe it started happening when you applied new drivers? Try rolling back, just as a test. I remember getting that message once after reinstalling Windows on my old PC and then installing the latest graphic card drivers. I fixed the issue by installing drivers from my original ATI CD, then updating to the new ones. Seems that there's was something in the old drivers, that didn't go away with the new drivers, and that was apparently needed by BZ. Try that too.
