Things I like about the Beta... The exploding animations, it may seem silly but I really want to get the ship exploding animations from the 0.7 beta to the 1.5 version on my laptop. Why you may ask? it is the same as the N64 version of BZ. do you know what files stores the exploding animation data? The fact that I can hide in the hangar The Nav beacon skin looks better to me The bzone.zfs for the Beta contains all the weapons  so you can try any of the beta weapons if you know how to use unzfs (nice to know the flash cannon is still crap) . . . Things that im glad they changed... The AT stabber, the 0.7 BETA makes it feel like the BZII AT Stabber The MDM Mortar, that thing is Tiny! The engine sounds! holy crap, they are as loud as hell! the minigun, a little to rapid here  The pilot walking animation; seizure much?

Will give it a try later! Miniguns are supposed to be fast! MUCH faster than the BZ minigun. The whole purpose is to tear something up very quickly to disable or destruct

I checked it out, just for the heck of it. Indeed it needed Win95 compatibility mode. One thing stood out to me in BZ 0.7 that I really liked. When I order my recycler to go to a geyser, it begins deploying as soon as it's in position over the geyser, instead of just reluctantly hovering over it for several seconds before deploying. That's quite ironic, because the version of BZ off my original CD had massive trouble with production units deploying. I would tell recycler to go to geyser. The recycler would reach the geyser and just sit there. I would tell it to go to geyser again. It would move a bit, and still not deploy. Then I would get impatient and just give the order like 10 times... the recycler would finally deploy.  In my opinion, deployment of production units is perfect in 0.7 beta. Why couldn't it be like that in modern BZ?
