At least once a year i feel like playing BZ(DM). I start missing flying a tank. The adrenaline rush after good dogfight. The perfect timed shot with a MAG.
Actually havent played a game at all recently. CoD2mw i played as last. Around january.

So as this evening i was deciding to see if i can get BZ to work again. Last time i played in 2009 somehow i cant see people in chatroom. I dont know if i have the wrong version. I have 1.4 as far as i know.

So my question, where can i go to DL a up to date patch or server file so i can play some again. I still have the original CD if necessary.

Thanks in advance.

It's easy to just use the Battlezone Installer if you are installing Battlezone, it already has the latest patches and updates applied, including the server file.

You should post your system specifications, maybe we can make fullscreen mode work. Maybe.

Hehe, I remember you liked high FPS in the past. Nice to hear you are trying to change. ;)

Problems one and two, that you are having, are connected. You can't limit FPS in window mode. Nor you can do it in software mode, that you used in the past. FPS can be limited in hardware mode only. Like Spork said, post your system specifications and explain why hardware mode doesn't work for you. Then we'll help you solve this.

Intel i7 920
Memory 3gb
Videocard ati radeon HD 4870 x2
Windows vista 32 bit

If i try start the game in hardware mode i get unhandeld exceception.
If i try software mode i get 300fps BUT!!! i cant move my tank. Altho i do hear the sounds like thrusting and shooting.
I tryed even playing in window mode but when the map loads i get black screen. I can see the menu and chatroom etc.

And no mr spock, i never liked high fps. But u never believed me :)
I tryed even to record it with fraps to proove. But im still a noob with PC as i was in 1998 haha.

I did get all the trouble when i changed a year ago the videocard, i had this 1900xt and everything was fine back then.
I swear, if BZ still had over 100 players a day i would left in the 1900xt card in haha. Yes that how much i used to love BZ.

I was hoping after a year of not be able to play BZ people had made a patch or fixes.

OK, im waiting for help :)

I'm not sure which BZ installation you are using ATM, but, if you are not very techy, you should really use BZ98 installer, that Spork linked you to. It containes all avialable 1.4 updates and settings that work for most computers.

If I didn't convince you to get BZ98, before continuing, be sure you patched BZ and set render like the F.A.Q says. After that don't do anything except setting your BZ resolution to 800x600 or higher. That should be enough for 32bit Vista with ATI (HW mode works flawlessly on my 32bit Vista with ATI 4850).

Actually 1.5 patch is being made as we speak. Check 1.5beta installer, it will work on your PC like a charm. Hopefully it will be done soon and then you'll again see 100 players a day... :P

ok..

have you installed both installers? (1.4 and 1.5)
renamed your anims folder? (only if you are not using the 1998 installer or 1.5 on bz1.net)
(1.4)

when you tried "/d3d" did it crash at start up or when you started up a mission? if it crashed at a mission start what res did you use?

in "/d3d /win" did you make sure that you had 480*640?

try bypassing the shell
"misn03.bzn /d3d /nointro" (both with and without /win)

Edit: when you write "Videocard ati radeon HD 4870 x2" does that mean that you have two 4870 in Crossfire?

Edit: you need this one for 1.5 if you dont have it dl it
Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redstributable Package

There's no need to rename anims folder. Problematic anims are not in 1.4 installer and all anims work fine in 1.5

SnakeEye, here you go again with your "tips", that can only make things worse...

Painstalker, it is unclear what you did after suggestion to try 1.4 (BZ98 installer) with higher resolution and 1.5 (1.5b installer) as it is. It is possible that 1.4 won't work for you due x2 card, but in 1.5 that's very unlikely to be the problem. If it really is, tell it to Ken or otherwise it won't get fixed.

Battlezone 1.5 Beta installs separately from Battlezone 1998, no worries. You will still be able to play 1.4.
