Where did all our Names come from?

I could Master any Computer Game and I dominated everyone I played. They use to come from miles around to play me, and were stunned at my Lightning fast reaction times and my Genius.
During one day I Slaughtered about a Dozen people, and someone called me “Freddy”, after Freddy Krueger from “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, because I was such a nightmare to play. Then someone else said he is as unstoppable as a Juggernaut. So they called me “Freddy and the Juggernaut, because he’s a nightmare”.

Juggernaut (meaning "lord of the world") is one of the incarnations of the Hindu god Vishnu. During a famous Hindu Chariot Festival, an idol containing sacred bones and ashes was taken from a holy temple and drawn on an enormous wooden Chariot over the land. In the past Hindu pilgrims in a frenzy, threw themselves under the huge wheels of the Chariot, which crushed them to death. This practice gave rise to the term Juggernaut meaning an invincible crushing force, which describes me perfectly.

So I accepted the Title “Juggernaut” bequeathed to me by my Victims.

Since you have mastered the DM portion of Battlezone, why not move to strat and try to conquer that portion as well. It must be getting boring for you to play Dm over and over and no one being able to beat you. Wouldn't strat be more of a challenge?

My name is almost as ancient as BZ. When I started playing BZ online almost everyone had cool, heavy hitting and almost scary names (Why is that?). I decided to be different (maybe because I wasn't scary at all). Back in the dark ages when I sucked at playing BZ even more than I do today I enjoyed pushing tanks around when nothing else worked. (Actually getting really close to adversaries is not only very annoying, it also makes you hard to hit, try it against a bomber )
So basically my name comes from my lack of imagination...
Oh, and its catchy. Everyone should have three letter names.

Now I might get some flak about this, but when I am "anonymous" I usually pick a name that comes from my work... That is programming (look out for c/c++ keywords) or from physics (µ-wave, duality, phase shift...). Thats how boring I am...

BTW Juggs, I hope your joking about your ever present self admiration. Quite frankly this never ending tale is making me sick. Is it some sort of obsession? One has to wonder if you suffer from some sort of inferiority complex... IMO great people (and players) don't have to brag about how great they are, they just are.

Yes well, I was named NightMare/WestSide because I was such a badass. You see, this lil' granny, she called me a punk, so I slapped her around 3 times and she called me a NightMare. I was so unstoppable. You should of seen it. She couldn't even touch me, she was so traumatized after the ordeal she was put in an insane asylum. Where I now send death threat letters every day if she ever even thinks about trying to match my supreme beingness.

My name comes from a type of english calvery unit. My first BZ handle was Silverblade but after someone told how unnerveing it is to see a wolverine chargeing at you headon rocket's ablazeing. Plus its infectous theres not a person here who does'nt enjoy a good CHARGE.

Stampede was a character in Activision's Interstate series ('76 and '82). I have tonnes of other nicks, but Stampede seemed to stick.

Well for all those that didnt know Baden is my real name. I was going to use a different name but i couldnt be stuffed thinking of something else.

I've had the handle 'Merlin' for nigh onto 12 years now. I was Merlin back in the BBS days long before the Internet was anything like it is today. I started as Merlin on my Amiga 500 back in 1988 on a 1200 baud modem and was glad of it...

I was {VC}Cpl.USMC way back when BZ was brand new, since that was my rank in the Marine Corps.
I went to (USMC)DeathB1rd when I joined USMC clan because of my abilities and I was assigned that name. I was never the best, but I have to say I was pretty damn good competition for the people I considered the best and there were countless outstanding players back then...a-lot of those people have moved on to other games. Considering I was a wolvie pilot and a Razor pilot I heald my own and did it well.

I suppose that had I flown a stealth or a Bdog Grizz from day 1 and played with those things all this time in the ever narrowing field of competition I could call myself a "BZ GOD." But then again...I am not that damn arrogant.

My name is Fridge because my stature reminded one of my collegues of a fridge.
Oldfarts was founded by Raptor and I and the name erupted because we sort of thought it was a little silly that 2 grown up men started playing internet games at the age of 31 - 32.

We always referred to ourselves as oldfarts when we were moaning and burping after some pizzas and Coca Colas while we saw the latest heavyweight title match.

Mattoid in my dictionary means "Genius crazyone" Thats cause my MAG shots were about perfect Oh yeah!! i remember the commodore days, we even had a atari homecomputer b4 it. Me and a friend we even downloaded the game tunes from the commodore last week The Last Ninja was my favorite game back then.

Dealer...it came from me f*cking around with the "newly" found out character map that i was trying out for the first time....i wanted to learn the different letter and such that i could make, after i had joined LoD and was told that if you held alt and pressed certain numbers on the keypad that you can make cool letters....i made the name, decided it looked gay but used it for a short bit in a game, Leap of Faith as a matter of fact *this was back when i was an SP fanatic* and i said hell with it after about 10 killz with SPs *10 and 0, damn newbies =P* i got dual raves and just started shooting the place up big time, was called a hacker and kicked from the game...that is how my name was deprived =)
*if your wondering what my name was before Dealer, it was a rip off and a common name...Reaper =)* o and i was Slayer for a short bit in LoD then i was Placebo for a little while too in DNX....Enforcer while i was in XS for a short bit then i gave that name to my brother when he joined XS =P.

Names and Nicks. I used alot of nick names over the time, still do now when im in the mood of trying something new, getting new experiences with players or just enjoy some anonymity.
flash21 wasnt my first internet nick name. I started as flache-erich due to my mail adress that i used at that time and still use for BZ and as i made this my ICQ nick just 2 days before i started playing BZ the first time. flache-erich is a damn bad english-german translation of flat eric, the little yellow what ever it is that appeared some years ago and dissapeared way too fast in my eyes. Then one day i saw a friend of mine playing a BZ game (the devil that handed BZ out to me ) and i thought i could fool him a bit. I left BZ and thought bout a nick name i could use so that he doesnt get who i am. Dunno why, the first thing that came to my mind was flash. As i didnt liked flash standing there alone i decided to add a number to the end of the name. Still dont ask me why i choosed 21, just thought it fits to the nick name. I played this game with my friend and i liked my new name. I decided to keep it and its the only one i kept for the whole time. When i use an alias its normally the name of a group or the song title of something i like and normally never lasts long. The only nick i also kept was "my own prison" as this was the nick name i used to make my first steps as a bomber.

Thats the stupid story bout my nick name . Btw, i hate it when ppl calle me flash21 instead of just flash but i still think the name looks better with 21 at the end .

I got my name last June...I had just gotten my copy from DSC Zorro, and was in the process of joining DSC. Zorro set up a chat room on his website, and it asked for a name. Since my given name is Nicholas, I just picked Nicolai.
Zorro said it sounded "professional and respectable," so it stuck.
Despite what Juggernauts first post was about, his intention for this topic was good. So could we ignore our differences and just tell our tales?

Now for my name history. I was Bad Cop that name came from when me and şVş Huey (who used the name innocent bistandard)in a game against an angry cab driver because it was just funny and I got recruited in to MoF and used that name until I left MoF.

My first name in any multi player game was GoesInYa. It was meant to suggest the fact that my SP/AT combo goes in ya, but after killing many people and pissing them off to the point they would start with the name calling and sh@t talk I changed it.
I thought the angry comments regarding my first name were quite hilarious. ie: "What kind of name is GoesInYA? Seems like theres some latent homosexuality going on there." I died laughing and then respawned as Tragic Magic. LOL
Tragic Magic is something that you cannot control. The "Tragic" is a drama with an unhappy ending and the "Magic" is the enchantment, or pretended art of controling the supernatural. With the name I believed that I could will you to miss the majoriy of your shots because you feared the name and the outcome of our dual. I am not suggesting I am the best like some people, I am suggesting the power of confidence in myself and the adrenalin that pumps into your heart when you hit "T" and see my name above my tank and realize you had better sit up and play like a madman.

I believe a name has a lot to do with how people play against you. When a talented player comes in as an alias they are more likely to get beat by someone they would usually trash. When I first started 2.5 years ago I would see names like White Rhino and s*** my pants. I would know I was about to be ejected from my beloved BDog if I didnt buck up. I would find myself sitting up in my chair and mean mugging the puter screen. Die Die Die! I would yell. And then... I would die. HEHE

I think "RainMaker" is pretty self explanitory, but if you want to know what it does for me, here goes: In Hopa Indian culture and folklore, (based in south western north america) there is the legend of a medicine man or gifted person that, at the right given moment possesses the power to bring balance to the people and the gift of life to the land. This is also true in zulu folklore form africa, only it takes on a more humanistic related definition. I would like to think that my attitude and demeanor would be one to influence the masses in order to create balance. Hence the name "rainmaker." or you could just say, after I get done killin everyone, it's like I made rain with all their pilots fallin from tha sky! hehe. whatever.

my name (BDoG) came from the tank the BDoG. MY orginal name was bzgeneral, and i said fk that name. Anyway i used to be awsome at in a BDoG tank until one day...
i was up in Gainsville going to a gator football game, and i was running because i was late. It was real bright out, i was kinda looking down at the ground. All of a sudden i kinda felt something and i was knocked to the ground. when i came too i saw i had hit a metal pole ( 3 inches thick) setting on 2 wooden posts, out in the middle of nowhere. I felt different, a new sense of self being. This would be later known as "BDoGGlyness". But i also lost all my skills at the BDoG tank, and i had to start over in a wolve, a scout, and then a stealth.

Last name Doyle ="He conquers by fortune" and my friends called me Doyler so I just use that name.

I've only had like 3 nicks in bz ever, one of which was bestowed upon me (stolen from) the gum gods.
