who is blaster?

blaster is a person who plays strat as CCA, while using dual blasts on his main tank.

let's take BUM for example... he plays strat from the beginning, he knows all tricks, so you may say he's pretty lethal. but in recent time he's better than before, because he plays bz with very high fps. like that his blasts are so fast that they will hit you with 100% accuracy, only E-W can save you.
also, when he hosts, he will turn snipe off so stopping him with NSDF may seem like a mission impossible for most. after reading this article and a little practice you should become mission impossible for him. :)

what he does?

before fighting him you need to understand how BUM plays this game... he's average stratter but he developed very good "strategy" for those who see blasts as a problem.
he almost never uses other units, he relies mosty on his DM skills. he will have his tank plus 1 exactly the same waiting for him near hangar/supply. like that when he's finished shooting at your stuff he'll just switch vehicles and come shooting again. he'll keep constant pressure on you from safe 300m. :)

when he seizes the area he will try to hold it with 2 gun towers upgraded with dual blasts. with him blasting too that is very hard to beat so you should destroy those towers before blasts arrive.

on rare occasions he will come with 2 apc's or try to shoot at you with 2 howies, but that's a problem as single player on medium is. :P
also, on custom maps like pac-man, with too much scrap, he will have few walkers protecting his rec. like i said, he's not a good stratter and he doesn't know how to use AI well. his strat is based on him exchanging dual blasts tanks and few upgraded guntowers. in laggy games he might have 1 spare tank with dual sp stabbers.

how to fight him?

never upgrade your tank cause you will be in the air a lot and extra weapons are just a waste of scrap.
have as many units as possible following you, when you see him let them come in front of you to avoid being ejected, but don't let them wonder around, control them. blaster will take 2-3 of them down before he goes on a reload so be sure they "die" closer to your teritory. when he goes for a reload release scavs. when he comes again call them back , don't lose any, that's very important.

i build mostly tanks and apc's for him to shoot at, keep minefield active and have few howies in the background. silo and scavs (on hold) are a must and i keep switching tanks making sure i'm always in the one with the most hull/ammo. thumper is my best friend, ai is there for shooting.

he'll keep coming after a reload or a tank switch, shooting your units down. you will keep collecting that scrap and rebuilding your force/outpost/base, while waiting for a chance to eject him when he gets greedy and comes deep in your teritory.

while he's in the air and waiting for new dual blasts you should destry his outpost (supply with extra tank). don't forget to build silo near scrap and realeasing your scavs when that happens.

p.s. i will eventually add part of this thread to my strat guide, but for now here evereyone can give their own opinion or advice on this subject, or simply ask a question...
don't be shy. ;)

I remember using Phantom Vir and M Curtains against blasters. It was quite efficient.

Blast is not lame. It's just another weapon.

Here's one of the first games I recorded, me fighting blaster BUM, the year was 2007 and I was still learning strat... :P

I checked the original footage, which is in much better quality, but even there it's hard to read the red text... When BUM lost his outpost, and got down to 1 life, he said he has to go. "well its past my hour, wife home in 10 minutes..." were his words. :)

Edit:
Look at me, I'm blasting blaster Jens. :P

Yep that's BUMmer :D His wife never was important if he was about to beat someone 8)

I remember the first time I beat him. Was an epic win. After my second win we became personal enemies for a couple weeks. But he always got back after a while and said "hi jon!" We even emailed back then. But the conflicts always repeated and were pretty bad. Great lobby entertaiment it was though :D
