Hello

I'm new on the board, and happy to have found it :)
It was a long time since I haven't played BZ1 !

So i tryed the BZ Installer, and it works well. But it is in English. Well menus and every written things, I don't mind, but I have some difficulties to understand all the voice instructions.
Is there a way to reuse the voices from the original CD ? (and cinematics !)
Well, I tried to reinstall from the CD, following the instructions from this board (patch 1.4, replacing directories, ...). It works ... some time, then everything stops. And 640*480, well I simply can't put up any more ! :)

So, is there a way to use the BZ Installer and material from the original CD (cinematics and others language soundtrack) ?

I don't know if BZ is available in other languages anywhere on the web, haven't ever found it.

For me, my original CD was in English, so by "original CD", you mean the one YOU had. Are different language versions of BZ even compatible with each other? I've seen a few videos on YouTube of single player missions in different languages, but never an online match.

It might be a possibility to translate and re-record all the English audio dialog, and translate mission objectives, info, and mission briefing files, but only by someone who understands English well and understands your language well.

What Flogus is asking is if he can use BZ 98 installer with his original disk that is on some other language. The answer is no, because installer uses all english files that come with the installation.

Howerever, BZ 98 installer is made out of original game, so I'm pretty sure you can make your (french, german?) version to work. Let's go step by step. What you did after CD installation? There's a short explanation in FAQ, let's make it bigger...

1. you applied 1.4 patch
2. deleted anims folder
3. replaced winets2.dll
4. added new servers.dat

5. can't set resolution higher than 640x480? open render.cfg and set "HiRes=1", without semicolon in front. then go in BZ options to put it to 800x600 or whatever.
6. still problems? copy whole render from BZ 98 installer to your CD folder.
7. ...

Yes, my original CD is in French.

My unsuccessful try was :
0. install game from my original CD
1, 2, 3, 4, as you wrote.
Athe the end of the 1st mission, went clicking on the 'next mission' button, the game closed completely.

5. : only 640*480 is proposed to me (well I tried on my laptop, with a 1440*900 screen)
I will try to modify the render.cfg later

For the moment, I keep playing with the BZ 98 installer.
My hears (re)accustom step by step to spoken English. I also remember a little of the scenario.

Lords! I loved this game. I was only able to play the NSDF campaign as my old computer was unable to run the CCS campaign (to many vehicles for only 16 Mb RAM and 2Mb video card !).
And when I've changed computer and OS, I was unable to reinstall the game.
And then, yesterday, I don't remember how, I found this forum ! Happy me ! :)

All the speeches are located in bzone.zfs file, so replace the one installed with the patch with the original one coming from your cd.
My answer is in late, but hope it will help other BZ players
