OK, this mission is seriously peeing me off, it's the one where you start as a scav driver and then have to defend...and defend...and defend. Managed to get past the bit where you have to go and kill the howies..and then have 4 walkers visiting for a cup of tea..and then have a dozen or so stolis invite themselves for dinner and then have another load of tanks and whatnot, followed by a few bombers - at this point I'm pretty deaded (and I know there are another 4 walkers on the way at least).
Is there any trick to this mission? Wondering about the value of having any typical defensive units as the towers are not the best and turrets can't hold long against bombers and walkers (of which there are at least 10!). I would relocate, but that just leaves a bunch of confused looking enemy sitting where the base used to be and on top of the only available geysers.
'elp!

Get the GTs up fast, and upgrade with Blast Cannons, the missio can't end unless you finish the howies, which as you said is easy to rush, I did it in a fighter, cloaking for the journeys. It's impossible without upgraded GTs, and I think luck is a major part.

Do your upgrades stick? Starting to think that there is something wrong with my RO install - I just assumed that it was a limitation put on my the designers and I've not really bothered with GTs in mission 2 or 6. I'll try again tonight and if they're still not sticking then I'll reinstall =/
It's quite easy to dupe the enemy by relocating then letting them pile up in your base (and letting the daywreckers help you blow them up), but it's obviously a cheap way to win the mission.
Thank you!

To get GT upgrades to stick you have to watch the upgrade as it falls onto the GT. It's a game flaw that if you command the armoury to drop and go and do something else the weapon falls through the GT, if you have the tower in your viewscreen as the weapon hits it the upgrade will usually work, same with anything dropped from the armoury onto any unit or buildings.

You're a victim of what I like to call "Collision Detection Failure", which doesn't seem to exist in multiplayer like it does in single player. This is one of the reasons that I still haven't beaten Chinese Mission #2! I can't afford to stay and stare at the Hangar while repairing it! I've got stuff to do! This seriously ticks me off, and I've practically given up on beating the Chinese Campaign because of this bug. It's too much to be forced to stare at stuff during upgrade/repair/reload in a hectic/difficult mission.

It's all about timing. And using the satellite. The bug doesn't occur if you watch upgrades go in while on Satellite. and if you use the circle radar to realise when the supplies are due to hit you can quickly switch to Sat and watch it that way. It is annoying, you just have to get used to it.

The tip has made things dramatically easier - did mission 5 in one go. Wish I'd known about it in the BD missions - been having to micromanage upgrades waaaay too much.
Chinese Mission #7 is making me want to kill kittens (well not in the famous meme way). It's bad enough that it's a sniper mission, but an impossibly hard one to boot. Arrrrgh.
