GEO2ASCII
(and back again)

Version 1.0

GEO2ASCII is an utility to convert Battlezone Geometry files (GEO) from binary to an ASCII equivalent (INI-style). These can then easily be examined and edited by Notepad or any other text editor, and converted back to binary format when done.

You can use this utility if you want to make manual tweaks or fixes to GEO files, or want to experiment with properties not easily editable otherwise.

System Requirements:

    - Windows 95/NT4/98/Me/2000/XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10
    - Visual Basic 6 Runtimes
    - Microsoft Windows Common Controls 5.0 (comctl32.ocx)
    - Battlezone installation, version 1.4 or 1.5

Download ZIP (v1.0)

Note that if you are interested in making applications that manipulate GEO files, there is a (partial) file reference included in the help file.

To-Do:

    - Add additional ASCII formats for export (XML, JSON, ???)
    - Editing of properties from within application.

I hope that you find this tool useful.

Woo! Yay for useful utilities!

Another ASCII format you might find interesting is YAML.

Not sure why you bumped your post, I don't use C# nor am I planning to use it.

If you want to advertise your stuff don't you think a topic for it would be more appropriate?

I have no idea how my post got there with that timestamp. I was asleep at that time. I posted that post like in 2015! What the **** is going on?

Edit: Has my post been in a moderation queue up until now? Back in 2015 I tried to give you the exact GEO doc so you could use it, was my reply never posted back then???

Strange, your reply has been there for a while and I read it when you originally posted it.
In the moderator logs it says you have 'bumped' the post, and when I replied it also noted it under your post ("Last bumped on..." or something to that regard), but now that's no longer there.
I didn't understand why (to be honest I had no idea bumping a post was even an option) and hence my confused response.

Maybe just a forum hiccup.

I figured it out. I was scanning the site for fishing links made by trolls like Vearie and apparently my scanner learned how to use the "bump" link on any topic I had the last post in. Luckily it was only 2 posts. I've been scanning all the BZ community sites for these links and even found a few, but none here. I think your moderation team took care of them when they happened.

Edit: fixing my scanner...
