Edit by Mr. Spock: this file has been included in the latest BZ98 installer.Hi, with this file you can play Battlezone over TCP/IP instead of the old IPX which is no longer supported by newer operating systems. Unpack it, copy it and put it in "Battlezone/dll" and "The Red Odyssey/Anet". -------------------------------------- you can delete the files you do not use, but do not remove wheat2.dll because I do not know what it does ------------------------------------- INTERNET = winets2.dll IPX = WIPX2.DLL MODEM = WMODEM2.DLL NULL MODEM = WSERIAL2.DLL TCP/IP LAN = wudplan.dll ?????? = wheat2.dll ------------------------------------- use the up and down arrows to scroll have not been able to get it to work wirelessly

Wow, this really works in both Vista and 7. Great catch! Something for the new installer (v1.3)...
Edit: Seems this thing overrides port issues too. All those with the same IP who weren't able to join eachother's game due router issues, will now be able to do it over TCP/IP LAN connection.

Works great on Windows 7! Thanks Just curious, is there a way to get this to work with XP? A friend of mine at work has a laptop running XP and I am using Win7, it would be nice to get it to work on XP

Thank you for the reply That is weird, for some reason when we installed the file in his .dll folder and went to BZ Multiplayer TCP/IP didn't show up as a choice as it did on my Win7 system I will have to do some troubleshooting later next week. I am off of work the next three days

It shows as last choice so you have to scroll down. You can clean up that dll folder now... delete WMODEM2.DLL, WSERIAL2.DLL, WIPX2.DLL and wheat2.dll.

Ahh that may have been the problem. His machine doesn't have a very high resolution so it may have been hidden. We will give it a try Saturday night. Thanks for your help

Since one of my laptops now runs Windows 7, this could be useful. Windows 7 laptop hosts an Ad Hoc wireless computer-to-computer network. My XP laptop connects to it. This is basically a replacement for my crossover cable. If I am in lobby and Geppetto enters, I lose connection to the server. If I then rejoin lobby, Geppetto loses connection the server and we keep kicking each other out. Even though I am not running a 3rd party firewall and Windows firewall is off on both, I have stateful packet inspection problems. Does this file allow me to get around this? Which laptop needs to select TCP IP LAN? Both or just one? I'll do my own testing later.
EDIT: I'm lost, I don't know what I have to do to allow both of my computers to play BZ on the server. (overriding state packet inspection.) Unless I have the wrong idea of what this file is for?

I'm going to forget having Geppetto and I on the server simultaneously for now, we can't even see/play each other in TCP/IP LAN.
Sometimes when I enter TCP/IP LAN after him, he see's 2nd "Battlezone" lobby room appear, but he can't enter it, and I only see 1 room on my screen. There is some serious issue here I don't understand. Or is the issue simply that TCP/IP LAN isn't meant to work on Windows XP, which has IPX protocol I used before with crossover cable? Geppetto's computer has Windows 7, mine runs XP.

It works wireless for me. Maybe it depends on a router.

Just a thought, but those experiencing problems with wireless... look for an option in your router config which refers to Wireless client isolation.
It's a function of the router which can isolate wifi to wifi clients from being able to see or communicate to each other (protecting users on wifi from another wifi hacker) and may be responsable for the isolation in communications. This setting won't restrict any data from Wifi to internet, but if users are playing via Wifi to Wifi, may be worth checking....
Turn it off to enable wifi to wifi client access..
