Hey there.
I've only started using the map editor and I would like to know how you change which team vehicles and buildings are on.
Changing enemy CCA to friendly etc.
Anyone care to shed some light?
Thanks in advance!

It's for a single player strat. I'm sick of playing as NSDF Plus, I'm re-vamping single player missions to add alittle more difficulty to them.

You should post the map-making tutorial somewhere on the forum, I'd like to make some IA missions.

Tomson, in case you don't know, there's MapEditor.doc in "Edit" folder of your BZ installation (C:\Program Files\Battlezone 1998\Battlezone\Edit), which you can easier access over Start - All Programs - Battlezone 1998 - Tools - Map Editor tutorial.

Yeah, I have infact read that, but it sheds no real light on changing CCA to friendly and NSDF to enemy, etc. It's quite vague on that front.

I talked with Jon, that IA map tutorial is in pdf format and it's pretty long. It will soon be adapted for this forum and posted so everybody could read it in the future. Hold on a while.

JonBlund wrote: A few IA maps as good as ThoiWalk wouldn't hurt I guess. But quite some project I bet. Maybe it's a good map, but I don't learn anything from a mission I can't beat. I got really close to the Golem where it couldn't quite shoot me and damaged it with plasma, but it always ends up shooting me before I can kill it. Killing a walker with plasma takes too long, so I'm not inclined to keep trying. I don't want to sound ignorant here, but I was under the impression that some map-making maniac made "Though I Walk" in a few minutes and never tested it, and it was included in the installer because it's "difficult". As far as I can tell, it's unbeatable. I remember posting somewhere asking if somebody could make a video or a tutorial for the first part of the mission (how to stop that Golem?) but nobody ever did, and I don't even remember where that post is at. I hate "Though I Walk", one of the best IA missions is Ice Ice Baby, I will still lose that mission if I don't move fast in the beginning, and playing offense is relatively difficult, the AI sends a lot of units constantly. I'll always have massive amounts of scrap and 10 scavengers collecting more, but it still takes a while to box the enemy in.

Agreed it's a tough one to get started on. Avatar may have pissed of quite some players with this map. You're not asking for tips but I can't keep myself 1) Don't go after the Golem in your spacesuit with your rifle 2) Instead run for the opposite direction out of the Golems reach and try to snipe one of the appearing turrets (best to snipe all 3 of them) 3) Return to the Golem, it will be out of ammo by then, don't bother with it. The Rec is black smoking, barely alive and still in captivity - use turret to kill the thing holding the Rec, only after that you can command it. 4) Tell Rec to get to the repairs, if any left, then get the heck out of there towards the left and deploy it - I used to use the upper single geyser spot to start with. It may take 20 sec, or 2 min before a huge invasion of both CCA and NSDF will come to take you out. If you survived the first mass attack then you have a good chance to beat the mission. Now the fun starts. Watch out for snipers. If I remember right you have to kill every single enemy unit on the map to have the mission succeed. Would be fun to hear what you think after having played it a couple times and if it gives you any ideas for your own IA project.

Interesting, I always thought I was supposed to somehow kill the Golem and avoid having a smoking recycler. I'll try it that way on next attempt. I also never understood until now why I can't command my recycler. Thanks for the help. I still think it's a dumb map. EDIT: KILT! If I had known what the heck I was supposed to do to command my Recycler, I would have cleared this mission a long time ago. After your explanation, I beat it on the first try. Surviving mass attacks in IA missions I am used to. Having to destroy some random object to command my Recycler is annoying, this should have been explained in the mission objective text or something. At some point, the AI stopped attacking completely, and so that's when I moved in 10 Howitzers and wiped out that heavily defended base. I don't like to use Howitzers in single player if I don't have to, but the mission was already long enough, and I didn't feel like picking away at the base slowly with my offense. However, I did kill everything else FIRST, and took out the enemy recycler LAST. Since the enemy recycler was on a slightly elevated plateau, my tanks and scouts had trouble with attacking it while on follow command, so I ordered them to attack directly/hunt. Then I got impatient by the time the recycler was in yellow, and ordered all 10 Howitzers to just kill the darn thing and call it a day!
