When you start the game with Config Utility, you do it in window mode or in full screen?
Do you load specific mission with the Utility or you start BZ regulary and go to the main menu first?

Not mentioning your graphic card means you have integrated one?

Not that it will help the above problem, but I see you didn't download these:
bzone.zip - no CD exe
indeo.zip - codec for seeing BZ videos (planets in 1.4, vehicles in 1.5)
servers.zip - dat file for seeing Online server
wudplan.zip - dll for playing (or testing) in LAN

In Windows Mode is unchecked so I am starting in Full Screen.

That portion of the menu is blank so it starts regulary.

Mobile Intel 965 Chipset Family

Not that it will help the above problem, but I see you didn't download these:
The list I posted of files downloaded were the ones that Mr. Spock had listed in the Technical Support/FAQ

bzone.zip - no CD exe
I bought the CD because when I downloaded and played the game through this, it wouldn't allow me to load normally. I would have to start the frist mission and then back out of there to get to the load menu.

indeo.zip - codec for seeing BZ videos (planets in 1.4, vehicles in 1.5)
Just downloaded.

servers.zip - dat file for seeing Online server
I am not interested in playing online expecially since I am still a novice and would get creamed a lot. Do I need this for regular play?

wudplan.zip - dll for playing (or testing) in LAN
Do I need this for regular play?

Oh, that means I'll have to update FAQ a bit. But yeah, you don't really need those 4 extra files for a regular play (except servers.dat for a regular MP play).

I don't understand that part.

Since BZ over Config Utility works fine in full screen mode, could be the issue with your main BZ shortcut. Try browsing to bzone.exe ("C:\Program Files\Activision\Battlezone" or wherever you installed it) and making new one.

When I downloaded the game and played it, the menu sections that allow Combat Exercises and Load Game were not enabled to allow a user to click on them. When I wanted to Load a game I had to start the first level and hit escape to bring up the Save and Load Menu.

Never heard of that Combat Exercises/Load Game issue. What version of the game you exactly dowloaded and from where?

This bzone.exe allows you to play the game without having CD in your drive. I also have the original CD, but I want it to last longer by keeping it in the box. :) Alternative would be to make an image of it.

Still waiting to hear if new shortcut was helpful...
