The problem I had:
Battlezone/The Red Odyssey runs fine for a while at 50-60 FPS, then suddenly without warning the framerate drops to 1-7 FPS and stays like that until I restart BZ/TRO. I restart BZ/TRO and it eventually happens again and again.
The possible cause and the solution:
My brother (recently started playing BZ a bit, online as "Geppetto") installed Google Chrome (Web browser) on my computer just prior to my FPS lag issue, so I think the installation of Google Chrome messed up the registry or something, because re-installing Battlezone fixed the problem, and the BZ installer enters information into the registry during installation.
So if you ever have your game running fine, then sudden FPS lag, re-install Battlezone.
