Battlezone 1

dude i cant play bz in high resolutions becasue my game crashes after a while . it starts all smooth and then its gets lagger and lagger until its so laggy that i have to restart the the game or disconect or connect back in . somthings wrong wiht my 8400gs ( compatibility wise ) i guess
is there a fix O__O
or somthing
i can play bz really smothly with the hardware acceleration off
i need some updates /fixes /upgrade

High Resolutions?

All you need is 640x480. Any other resolutions make HUD elements too small. (In my opinion)

Make sure zbuffer=0 in render.cfg.

I don't know what else to tell you.

Win XP?
32bit?
SP3?
178.24 graphic card driver version? Try some other.
Bz 1.4O? Did you change render.cfg settings?
Shadows are off?
No problems in 640x480?
Try window mode.

i have sevece pack 3
and i have a xp 32 bit
i using a 178.24 i believe
with version is better

Make sure you have the latest installer (1.4 O)

NO CD or Daemon Tools is needed to play BZ in 1.4 O, because it comes with NO CD Patch.

hey friends i never experinced battlezone in hight quality graphics in my new graphics card since i got it
i have a ge force 8400 so i am really hoping the what ever that will come after BZ 1.4O will be able to run in those high graphics cards
i can play bz perfectly if i turn off my 3D acceleration o__O
right now
my be in the future i wish dont have too iwant to play bz in high quality and i lagg so much when some one throws splinters when my 3D is on!!!!!!!!!!!! but in 3D oss its no lagg

and the card has 178.24 sofware installed

Video card support (or rather, some of it) is handled by the games coding, so it's in the core unfortunately. There's no other way to do things without some modifications to it.

The patches are most likely bug fixes, and other various things from the game models, ODF's, other definition files, etc...

Battlezone and Battlezone 2 are old games, turning 9-11 years old now. There will be no more in the series itself that are officially supported (or were) by Activision or Pandemic Studios.

Actually there is other way than messing with the code... We are now in the mercy of graphic card drivers producers. Bz is made for DX5 and first DX10 graphic card drivers lacked old DX support, but lately, every new driver is better and better for the old games like Bz.

I saw Golem in the lobby saying that the latest driver (181.20) fixed all his issues.

I've been arguing with reaper about 1.5 patch and such, and I recall him claiming that he'll maybe fix BZ 1.4 if it eventually can't be played at all on latest hardware/drivers. But I don't think he'll do it. He'll get greedy again and promote his silly demo as being superior to BZ.

I am having the same issue. When I start playing Bz, the game lags more and more. And when I go to the menu then resume the game it gets better, but quickly begins lagging again. I'm using a GeForce 8400M GS on Vista 32bit. I tweaked the NVidia settings and it got a little better, but it still lags pretty bad. I just need to keep the frame rate down. When i start out its around 25-30 fps then it jumps to about 58-60 fps...is there any way to keep the frame rate down or fix this problem? I've tried whatever i've found

i cant see with lines . units points , nav poinst etc in mini hud and with satelyte view i can see nothig . folowed somo graphical bug. i have a geforce 8600 gts xp 32 sp2 dual core and all of that crap .
at last , the porblem is i still cant play in HQ i try many ways , lesser resulution . the file fixer . but nothing happens .

maybe there are a solution around here

Well, the title says "resolved" cause the newest driver at that time (181.20) resolved Golem's problems, for his 8400gs card (check the title). He hasn't confirmed it here, but he did in the lobby. Different GC series require different drivers. It's not helpful every time, but in most cases the newest driver works the best. Sometimes you have to experiment...

Lucky has GeForce 8400M GS on Vista 32bit. Try this, 179.48 February 11, 2009.

Tesla_trooper has geforce 8600 gts xp 32. Try this, 182.08 March 3, 2009. Golem, you can use this link too, it's the same driver as for your 8400gs xp 32 bit.

Don't forget to turn Shadow Detail OFF in Bz Graphic Options.
