I've posted in a few threads here, but I suppose I've never properly introduced myself.

I call myself Mogget128723. I hail from Canada, and Battlezone IS my childhood. Ever since my mother gave a copy to my dad in either 1999 or 2000, I've been playing this little forgotten gem. I started back in Ottawa, Ontario, running the game on a machine that was outdated even for that time period. We moved to Nova Scotia when I was eight, and kept running the same computer there; got a couple friends hooked along the way. When I was ten, we packed up and moved across the continent and north, winding up in Fairbanks, Alaska, where things first began to get difficult for my lifelong addiction. Running on our new 663 megahertz Pentium with Windows 98 was like a dream, but I'd always wanted a computer for myself, and my parents finally caved in my Freshman year, giving me a 1.8 gigahertz dual-core machine running Vista. I immediately downgraded to XP, and thank god I did. I was not at all experienced with computers at that time, so trying to get BZ to run on a Vista computer would've been a losing battle for me.

Then, after two years with that computer and six in Alaska, that machine bought it and we moved back into Canada. So with a combination of Christmas money and my own savings, I laid down $900 for the Windows 7 quad-core monster I'm running right now, discovering Red Odyssey at about the same time. If only I'd learned about it while I still had a computer that could run it properly :/

I've never properly dipped into multiplayer; I ran a few 1 on 1 rounds on my old laptop with the only other guy who was online at the 1.4 patch level, but he always wanted to talk and never wanted to shoot, so those generally wound up pretty dull. If I can get BZ running on this machine, then I'm looking forward to delving into the fresh and alive multiplayer community I've found here.

I ran into this site while hunting for windows 7 fixes for the original battlezone, and only made an account so I could download the 1.5 patch. Then I got my hands on a separate copy of Red Odyssey, and made my first post hunting for information on how to make it run properly. I was quickly introduced to the 1998 installer, and when I was finished hyperventilating, I installed it and began troubleshooting... now I'm here.

So HELLO!!

The second to last Chinese mission drove me insane. It took me SO many tries to beat it once.

yes, the Red Odyssey campaign is all the more fun :D...too bad there aren't any more campaigns to play at the moment. I've played all the official ones many times now and surprises aren't surprises any more :(
