Hey, I'd love to participate in the strat tournament. But my main roadblock is my dial up 6 days out of the week.

I don't understand.

Like I already said, at least 4 out of 7 pros are needed for the tournament to be valid. But we also need few other players to compete them and try to overthrow them. Idea was having pre-tourney and tourney. Pre-tourney was supposed to be some sort of the qualifications for the main thing. I guess that with HAL and me we would have enough pros, but he's hesitating to play cause of bad reception of the tournament in general. Pre-tourney is supposed to have x2 players than there's free places on the main tourney.

Deadline is tomorrow, a week after annoucement was made. Meaning we need at least 6 more non-pros to apply.

Ah, now I get it.

This Strat Tourney is a great idea
and id like to join it.

i totally feel you hyper. cept im in college and have some fairly tough classes. add in working 30+ hrs per week and church, yeah not too much time.

SnakeEye, you have to find your partner in the lobby, not here (Jazz applied for the singles championship). Besides, there are 0 Team Strat applications so it's unlikely to happen, even though I moved deadline a bit. Today is the last day.

BTW, I'm applying for the tournament too, in fact for both tournaments. My Team Strat partner is HAL 9000.

I see there will be no Team strat tournament... maybe in 1.5, when ally button gets fixed.

Strat tournament 2009 participants are:


Due previous strat achievements, Group A goes directly to the main tournament. Players from Group B will fight among each other on the pre-tournament and 2 best placed will qualify for the main tournament.

All games have to be played on stock maps. I suggest Theater, Moon, Corners, Citadels and Compass.

Rules:
By default, there are no rules, but if you like, 2 who play can agree on let's say "no splinters" rule, but that should also mean "no Bdog Grizzly" either.

While still in the groups, you have to play 2 games with each opponent. 1st time you pick map, 2nd time opponent picks. Table will be formed and 2 best placed from group B will join group A on the main tournament (group C will be formed). There same group rules will apply, with 1 little difference - 4 best placed qualify for the Play-Off. 1st goes on 4th, 2nd on 3rd. Defeated players will fight for the 3rd place, winners for the title. In play off, best out of 3 games wins. When 3 games are played, first to pick map is the one who was better in the group stage.

If 2 or more players share the same place (same number of wins), 2nd thing to look is their mutual matches. 3rd thing to look is points they got against players who got through. If they are still the same additional game(s) will be played.

Tournament starts on 11/23 (today) and it ends on 12/23 (day before Christmas Eve cause some might be out of town during holidays). Since we are limited with time and we live in different time zones both groups can start fighting today, no need to wait for group C to be formed.

Results and the table will be posted here and I will update it daily. Your duty is to report a loss as soon as it happens. I also expect screenshots and videos from both sides.

If you don't trust your opponent, you should play with a referee. He must be someone both players agree on, or 2 referees (1 for each) if they can't agree. Referee decides if the game was regular or not. If you play with a referee, he should host.

You have to pick 1 name for the tourney and say it to your opponent before the game. You can't use alias then reveal real name only if you win.

If something happens during the game (connection loss, urgent call...) 2 players should decide what to do depending on how situation on the battlefield looked like. Someone's loss or a match reply. If they can't agree, referee will rule out.

If you refuse to play someone, and 51% of the participants decide that you were given enough time to show up and take the challenge, that will be registered as your loss. You have a month period so there should be no excuses...
