I have BZ (BZ1998) on 2 computers: AMD Phenom II X3 720 4096M RAM ATI Radeon HD3870 1024 RAM (Catalyst 9.4 i'm really LAZY to update it until glitches appear ) Via Vinyl Audio (VT 1708B) WinXP SP3 (russian) All runs perfectly. Laptop: iCore 2DUO P7350 WXGA 1280x800 iGMA X4500 internal graphics (LATEST DRIVERS from INTEL REQUIRED to prevent of mess of lines in 3D) Win VISTA32 Home Basic (NOT compatibility mode) After graphic drivers update BZ runs smoothly. PS. Excuse my poor English.

This is pathetic. I have a Gateway FX laptop with Vista Home Premium 64bit and Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS. After installing BZ98, all I get is an error telling me that there isn't enough memory, that I need at least 50MB free on my hard drive ( I have 123 GB free!) and to make sure virtual memory isn't disabled (It's not) Oh, cruel fate! Why can't I be one of the few with BZ working on Vista? Why can't DO's video be available? Have I forgotten to do something? I guess I'll go play Halo for a while. Hmph. System Specs: WinXP x64 SP2 8Gig Ram 8800 GTS Video w/FW Ver 169.21 Plenty of HD Q6600
My Issue: BattleZone running just fine for Single/Multi player. Now I want to run Red Odyssey and am starting back at "0". Any suggestions for RO to run? I thought I could copy the setup for BZ but I forgot how to do all that stuff and the video is no longer active. Thanks

I don't know why you think that "Vista Fix (x32/x64/DX10) Step By Step Flash Video" would help your RO issue...
What exactly happens when you try to run RO?

Just installed 32bit Vista and put BZ98 installer on it. Compatibility mode wasn't needed, everything works fine. I didn't even install graphic card drivers, I used the ones from Vista.
Vista 32bit ATI X800 2 GB of RAM - everything works flawlessly

Tried 32bit 7 too, on the same machine. With stock and with the latest drivers ( 9.8 ), with and without compatibility mode. Unfortunately, same issues as 64bit version...

An old buddy of mine had Bz for a while(before he stopped)
His Bz worked flawlessly and his specs were:
Vista 32 bit NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE
Not sure if it will provide a great deal of help towards fixing these issues with Vista, but every bit(no pun intended) counts.

I'm using Battlezone 1998 because I could not get the normal install to work at all. I'm running Battlezone 1998 with Windows XP SP3 compatability with UAC off. I have the same problem as others with the radar on NVidia cards. Is there a fix that works without resorting to software mode? Nearly everything else is gorgeous, with the exception of a few HUD glitches (look at the Recycler selector and Scrap counter in my screenshot). Code: OS: Windows 7 64-Bit RAM: 8GB Dx: 9.0C/11 Graphic Card: Geforce 8800 GT Driver: 190.62 (08/17/2009) render.cfg: Code: [NormalView] VisibilityScale=150 HiRes=1
[Debug] TrackFPS=0
[D3D] TripleBuffer=1 ZBuffer=1 MipMaps=1 LargeAssets=1 PreLoad=1 loadsprites=0 halftexel=1 alpha=1 SplitZBuffer=0 RadarType=7 GRAPHIC OPTIONS: NSDF - Mission 1 (click for full size):

Win7, 64bit (WinXP compatibility on bzone.exe due 4GB of RAM) Geforce 8800 GT 190.62 (08/17/2009) 8 GB of RAM - HW mode (3D on) - everything works (menus, planet videos, etc.) but I have some HUD/Radar issues ( screenshot here) - SW mode (3D off) - runs very slowly and has color problems (ending the explorer.exe process and then launching the game fixes the color problem, but it's still too slow to be playable) - Window mode (640x480) - runs pretty flawlessly, but still a little to slow to really be enjoyable

Why don't you select hardware mode (when it asks)? Sounds like firewall blocking BZ server... I had the same issue with Comodo Firewall. You should run BZ the first time in Window mode (be sure resolution is 640x480). Like that you will be able to answer firewall question(s) with an ease and then continue to Multiplayer. There could be more firewall questions when joining game, so stay in window until that is done too. When all firewall questions are answered (if you can play MP game), exit BZ and start it in full screen HW mode (main shortcut).
