I know this doesn't really belong in the thread but its the most relevant one I guess.

I was wondering what file format battlezone stores the textures of 3d models in? I have extracted all the battlezone files but I don't know what the .vdf and .odf file formats are (google didn't help much).

I ask because I'm interested in mucking around with the unity3d engine with some battlezone models with textures.

Thanks in advance, and merry christmas!

Extract bzhw16l.zfs, the textures are in there. You can view the files with MAP Viewer which you can get at: http://www.battlezone1.net/downloads

Hope this helps,
Goomba

Thanks for you help.

objects.act works for almost all textures, otherwise try one of the planet palletes.

Brilliant, thank you very much for all your help :)

Now I hope Activision won't mind me using their models in my remake.

FYI, before you start on that remake, please note that majority of the community isn't really waiting for such a thing. I'm not trying to discourage you, just keeping you from a disappointment when nobody will play it. :)

Oh I know, I want to work on starting a portfolio for myself and I wanted to make something cool, so I figured since battlezone was my favourite childhood game, I could muck around with making something in unity3d based on it :)
