Sup folks,

I am new to this whole community (waves) and am getting into game programming...

BZ is one of my favorite games EVER and was thinking at some stage I may attempt a remake... I am going to do an alpha of BZ anyway to practice what I am learning... so I figured I would ask offer it up to anyone whose interested in a remake or those who would wanna be involved... as I imagine you folk got a lot of experience with the guts of the game...

Post thoughts, ideas, comments etc etc etc... I will be starting in about a month.

That'd be something pretty cool to pull off. I'd love to try and help, I like programming, and would love to delve more into it, especially with something like this. I just haven't really figured out how to do it on my own much. Haha. Only language I know well is C++, though I have started learning a few others, I just need to sit down and dedicate some time to that.

And welcome to the community!

I am using a cpp game engine called panda3d. It uses python as the scripting language. Python BTW is the quickest language I ever learnt.

I am fortunate enough to have reasonable skills in blender as well for modelling. The real challenge once I have my head around the game engine would be AI. No idea how to go about creating an AI. The models, physics and stuff would be the easy part.

Was thinking to bring it into the modern age in the sense that engagement distances would be increased along with projectile speeds. But to be honest though if this was a proper remake I would not want to change the formula. Just update it...

And as for the patch... I was stoke when I saw it, installed bz on two pcs of my own and a few friends pcs aswell!

Oh cool. I'll look into that. I normally use VS 2010 Pro is all.

And I am agreed there... All I can assume right now is a lot of "if" statements. Haha. Besides that... I have a basic, very basic idea of how to do somethings, though it's probably quite inefficient.

Yeh if statements galore. Ive been trying to crack the handling of the vehicles. The whole hovertank feel is tricky. That joyful feeling of momentum and low gravity.
