Battlezone 1

Hi all. I recently busted out my old Battlezone CD and got the game running with the 1.4 patch and set for Win 95 compatibility. I played through the first 13 missions on the American campaign with no problem, with maxed out graphics and the works, then I launch Mission 14 (The collect scrap and protect your guys from Furies miossion). It starts the mission but before the screen comes up, the fault sound goes off and a dialog box saying "Unhandled Exception" (And nothing else) appears over the mission screen. I hit enter and the game terminates.

I read through these forums and tried a number of fixes including renaming the anims directory and using the Windows Compatability tool, but none of those fixes worked. I also updated drivers for video and sound.

I tried running the Russian Campaign but get the same error. I can still run American missions 1 -13 no problem. I need help figuring this out and you guys seem like the right folks to ask.

My computer specs are:

Dell XPS Intel Core Duo 2.4 GHz
2 GB RAM
2 Linked NVidia GEforce7900's
Aegia Particle Physics card
Windows XP Professional SP 3

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This has always been one of my favorite games and I would love to get it up and running again.

When patching the original game you should follow steps from the FAQ.

Windows compatibility is needed only if you have Win Vista or 7, with 4+ GB of RAM.
Renaming/deleting of anims is for MP only.

Seems no one else experienced your problem... Try installing BZ98 and 1.5b installers, then put your gamesaves in them. In BZ98 they might work, in 1.5 they should work.

Thanks Spock. I uninstalled and used the 1.4 loader and that worked. I still get the occasional hang but it's very rare now.
