Post subject: Would the 1.5 installer work better with my system than 1.4?

I'm new to this forum, and I'm looking forward to playing Battlezone again. After looking over this site, it looks like people with newer systems are having better luck running BZ from the 1.5 installer vs. 1.4. I'm wondering if that is how I should go. Here is my system:

Windows 7 64 bit
Intel Core I7 2.93 GHz
8GB RAM
ASUS P7P55D-E motherboard
EVGA GEForce GTX480 video card
Samsung 22" flat panel monitor

This system is a year old, but still relatively advanced. Would you agree I should use the 1.5 installer with this system for best results? I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

Hello, yes you should download 1.5 if you want the best result. Remember to let Ultraken know if theres something not working for you as he's the man in charge of this patch.

Yeah, 1.5 is awesome, it's just not quite finished yet. :) Be aware that in 1.5 multiplayer, you may not find a crowded lobby yet, since the community still plays 1.4 and 1.5 has its own server session separate from 1.4. If you want, you can install Battlezone 1998 and run Red Odyssey in a window. By running RO in window and BZ1.5 in window mode, you will be able to do more than just hang in 1.5, you'll also be in contact with all the players in 1.4.

Cheers, welcome to BZ! :D

That's good to know. Is that currently the only way to play Red Odyssey without the disk is using the BZ 1998 installer, or can it also be added somehow to the 1.5 installation? Just curious, since BZ looks so good full screen with 1.5.

Do you want to have BZ1.5 and RO installed without the need of BZ1.4 or you want BZ1.5's high resolution features in RO? The latter is not possible since RO has own code, which has issues as BZ1.4 has.

Yeah, I was hoping that running RO with BZ1.5's high resolution was possible. What about using BZ1.5 and RO installed without the need for BZ1.4? How can that be done?

Not with those files/installers, because RO searches for bzone.exe (and other BZ files) over registry entry, which you get after installing BZ98. I'll soon make sparate RO installer, possible to install in combination with 1.5, but of course without 1.5 funcionality.

Sounds good. Thanks for the info on RO. I want to play this again, but I wasn't sure what was the best method to do this.
