I recently decided to try create a map for BZ, however, I keep getting this error.

I type this after going into addon, after doing everything else the tutorial said:
maketrn /c multdm07 /w=2560 /h=2560

At the end of a long list of s*** (see screenshot), it says this:
...Error: Invalid command line options, f*** YOU.

This happens every time, it stopped happening magically for no reason, and I made a map and everything was going well, then I saved it and it got deleted somehow and I couldn't make another map because they somehow didn't get created properly, and only 1 file would let me save, so I lost another map. (I don't even know how to save all the files of a map yet because of this)

I deleted then reinstalled BZ and now this ...Error: Invalid command line options error has re-surfaced, and I can't do a f*** thing about it. When this first happend, I tried 1998 BZ and multiple installs of BZ 1.5 and it wouldn't work. Now it's broken again after installing the latest 1.5 version. I read that a maggot virus named W32.Sircam.Worm@mm could cause a similar issue, but I checked for it with a program and my computer didn't have it.

So the order of the command line parameters actually matters for maketrn? How strange, normally programs are designed to not be picky about what order you put them in.

maketrn can be touchy about parameters, just like bz. I once tried to launch a mission by using "bzone /edit /win usrmsn02" and the game crashed instantly.

Anyway, good luck with your mission(s) :D

When launching a mission, you need to include the extension. Use "usrmsn02.bzn" instead of just "usrmsn02".

before /startedit worked correctly, I used this trick to start bz in edit mode, I launched just the map, pressed CTR+A, then restarted.
I actually never start directly, unless im just playing a mission.

I think the original editor manual was written incorrectly. 1.5 must be using that one.

"Type maketrn /c multdm07 /w=2560 /h=2560"
It should be "Type maketrn multdm07 /c /w=2560 /h=2560" like Dobermann said.

OK, now when I save my map into addon, and load multdm07.bzn, with "bzone.exe multdm07.bzn /edit /win" it doesn't load the edited terrain at all. It saves navs and pups I placed though, which I can see when I load my map.

Seriously Vim? You're better off just recreating the map from scratch. I know you're mad bro, but really... just forget about it and start over. It's easier that way. I had to start over once on my first IA map because I made it wrong the first time, BZ didn't recognize it as IA and didn't run the mission script. When I remade it, it turned out better than the first attempt. Good luck with your map.

Thanks.

I would make a new map but I'm out of idea's now, and I don't want to replicate my 2 previous deleted maps. Maybe I'll make a good map when I have more experience playing BZ.

I still want to know how to place bolt mines, somehow place heavy cupric stabber and make respawning units with chosen weapons. It would also be nice to know how to place respawning pups in strat, and non-respawning weapons other than rave gun.

First of all, good luck. I recommend you to use 1.4 to make your maps, as 1.5 editor sometimes has some strange flaws. Of course be sure to try it in 1.5 when you are done editing. :D

If you're loading up thee first time, usrmsn02 will suffice.

C:\Program Files\Battlezone 1998\Battlezone>bzone.exe usrmsn02 /edit /win

That is how I do mine before a .bzn is made.

What I should have said was, "when playing a mission, include bzn extension". :) Loading for the first time for creating a mission needs to be without extension.

My post after this one was deleted, so Spork's one doesn't make sense. I was posting about losing my DM and strat map consecutively. The truth is I deleted my DM map along with BZ after going berserk when I quit MU. I lost my strat map to some weird corruption, or hacker. All height map files were somehow broken, I had 10 backups of my map with the same name and they all corrupted. I still have them.

I basically know all the things required to make a map, except for adding custom terrain palettes, skies and things like that which are outside the realm of the guide.

One thing I have never understood is the fourth editing tool on the second row in wireframe edit mode. It has never done anything at all, but it looks like it's supposed to make ramps. It would be extremely useful if it could do that, because I wasted hours making stupid ramps.

Also, I don't make IA missions, I want to make a multiplayer map. IA missions are too hard to make, and have limited playability.

So, is it possible to have cupric stabber pups in a normal multiplayer map?

TY. So far I have had nothing but terrible luck. What's worse is I will probably have to start studying or working soon, so I won't have unlimited free time anymore.

And I hate the 1.4 editor because it's almost impossible to make good ramps with it, the increment is stuck on maximum. I will have to use the 1.5 editor now.

Also, for some reason BZ 1.5 never crashes in editor, although it always crashes using full screen in game.
