Hi there, I'm fairly new to this, having had the original Battlezone CDs but giving up when I couldn't get them working a few years ago. Noticed the download of this and played it for a while, but gave up because of crashes on my computer. The 1.5 update (so far, at least) seems to have fixed all of my issues, so I've been broadcasting my play of the game (and hopefully helping the amount of players in the process by directing them here) through Xfire ( http://www.xfire.com/live_video/threice/ ), thanks to the 1.5 patch which makes it all possible. I just thought I'd post up the xfire_games.ini entry if anyone else wanted to use it; it enables everything you expect from a fully supported Xfire game: in-game; screenshots; video, and broadcasting. Code: [6159] LongName=Battlezone ShortName=bznd LauncherExe=bzone_d3d9.exe Launch=%UA_LAUNCHER_EXE_PATH% %UA_LAUNCHER_EXTRA_ARGS% %UA_LAUNCHER_NETWORK_ARGS% InGameRenderer=D3D9 InGameFlags=USE_PRESENT|ENABLE_MOUSE|DISABLE_RELEASE

I didn't know Xfire could magically improve pings. Maybe I can lower my dial up ping with Xfire?

if anything it would make your ping slower. because now you have to connect to xfire then battlezone1.net. instead of right to battlezone1.net.

Isn't Xfire just a client application like TeamSpeak? I tried it once just to see how well it could record game footage, but that's about it.

None of you use Xfire? Well, it's simply a client that monitors what games you play, how long/when you play them, and enables some overlay functions like clock, FPS, chat (through Xfire, with your Xfire friends), voice chat, video broadcast.... You don't connect to a gameserver through Xfire. Where did this thing about ping come from?

P2P connections are very sensitive. I never tried Xfire so I don't know how much it would impact on BZ, but it would be cool to watch strat tournament match live.

sorry for thread necro, i just attempted this and my friend told me i was just broadcasting a green blank screen and no audio, don't suppose the OP can give a look of his renderer settings, graphics card model and OS? i'm running Windows 7 on a Radeon HD4890, with battlezone build 2010/07/12 my render.cfg: Code: [NormalView] VisibilityScale=150 HiRes=1
[Debug] TrackFPS=1
[D3D] ZBuffer=1 Alpha=1 Texture16=1 HalfTexel=1 TripleBuffer=1 SplitZBuffer=0 MipMaps=1 PreLoad=0 LargeAssets=1 LoadSprites=0 Buffer32=1 Vsync=1 MaxAnisotropy=16 MultiSampleType=0 MultiSampleQuality=0 HardwareClip=0 i used the same xfire_games.ini settings as in the OP.

XFire is awesome, I used to watch my friends play their games while I was out at sea. I've never recorded anything with it, though. It's like TS3 on crack.

upon doing some googling, it seems likely Xfire is blocking the broadcast because it's a custom game, this is probably a response to people exploiting the broadcast system to distribute copyrighted Video content, Xfire Video recording works fine though. I've also managed to get broadcasting working on Viewstream as long as i run in Windowed mode.
